  1. i definitely got the sound i was aiming for!

  2. Nice, quieter is good sometimes. My car is a little too loud inside, but I need to add a package tray and one door seal.

Sounds much better with the new pipes! Got a performance car sound instead of sounding like a dump truck.

I'm not a fan of blowmasters. Glass or steel packs any day!

  7. Gf took these on the way into town today. turned out very nice Screenshot_20231021_131519_Discord.jpg Screenshot_20231021_131555_Discord.jpg Screenshot_20231021_131825_Discord.jpg Screenshot_20231021_131934_Discord.jpg

  8. the drive home was great, the suspension is definitely happening next. once i get up past 55 it tracks perfectly straight, wonder why that is. 20231022_085510.jpg

also, the engine and trans mounts are starting to let me know they need replaced, might do a rubber parts cannon this winter.

  9. I stripped my car to the bare frame rails, removed the cross member.. hope yours does not have to come out. A real cast iron bitch to get back in. Usually a 2-man job that includes a porta-power.

The frame was cleaned to bare metal and painted with VHT Chassis and Rollcage black. It has held up well. I dipped everything else in citric acid to get the rust off and painted those parts.

Take "before" pictures and note how the lower arm bushings go in, also the idler arm can be fun. Does the car have a drag link? Mine was shot and had to be replaced.

  10. mine appears to be in good condition, hopefully i wont have issues when removing it.

took a picture previous fill up, filled when the gauge says half, did the math, and wow, 16.7 mpg! Screenshot_20231022_170941_Calculator.jpg

  11. That is decent mileage, I'm around 9 with my car. It was 10 with the 3.56 rear, worse with the 3.89 posi.

  12. it gets more mileage than my daily driver somehow. rethinking which one should be daily driven haha

  13. been working, but im driving it to a Halloween party today! not too far of a drive, checking fluids here, full coolant, full oil. 20231028_155401.jpg

need to run this tank of gas out of it before snow hits.

  14. I just looked at this. My 1st car was a 57 fairlane 500 in the same colors as this one. That was mid 60's. This brought back some memories.

    500 miles in 3 months :)

@trevorsworth introduced me to the idea of cleaning up my cars paint/rust staining with CLR 20231104_145043.jpg

so i'll try that out soon, maybe tomorrow since all the cars are getting oil changes?

  16. shes done until spring, i did 537 miles this year. hopefully next year will have refurbished suspension, less holes in the floor, and door panels! 20231104_233609.jpg

Well, the Beatles hit the USA in the early ‘60’s, they played in the UK before that.
I’m in the “they are classic” crowd:).

Have you guys heard their new song? It’s not bad in my opinion. Just think there will never be another new Beatles song. Kinda sad.

  19. It came out a few days ago. I heard part of it on XM radio last night. I have to hear the whole thing to really have an opinion.

  20. today i fixed my coolant leaks before it gets too cold to work with the water spigots, but while the coolant drained i finally got around to doing what @trevorsworth recommended and rubbed the entire car down with CLR. the results speak for themselves. 20231119_140953.jpg 20231119_124159.jpg 20231119_124157.jpg 20231119_132446.jpg 20231119_132430.jpg 20231119_170636.jpg
definitely looks better from 10 feet away.

    Oh no, the patina... ;)

Told you you'd be surprised how much paint you had left. Buff it and wax it and you'll start wondering why you were thinking about painting it.

  22. in order to really clean it fully i'd need to remove the bumper, seeing how said bumper is tweaked a little, reinstallation may not be simple as its all a little bent from the previous owners not so excellent driving.

  23. I had a badly chalked '64 Ford. I hit that with a scrubby sponge and Comet. It worked quite well. I used some Soft-Scrub on my car on a few spots, it worked well too.

While I enjoy a good 'bring it back from the dead' detail and have been cringing a bit on the state of the outside for a while, this rodder has made amazing progress on the mechanical side and learned a great deal. Cat's also mentioned that winter is coming to his locale, so let's focus on keeping it going and doing things that make sense when the days are short, temps are down and money is tight.

A full lube job, clearing out any junk in the bottoms of fenders and doors so moisture doesn't settle in, cooling system work that's being done. Maybe looking at door and trunk seals to help them live or if they are too far gone, help keep the wet out at least.
