Similar ad in local So Cal newspapers

    Hello,

Our dad must have seen an advertising of almost every Buick ad in the local Los Angeles, Long Beach newspapers. He usually brought home the L.A. Times, the L.A. Herald Express and the local Long Beach Press Telegram. He did not like the subscription services as they arrived all rolled up and crunched. Sometimes they were wet from the morning dew, rain or wet lawn, despite the idea that the large front porch of the Craftsman House was set up perfectly for a newspaper delivery.

So, he always stopped at the local liquor store for his supplies of newspapers. He was a voracious reader and read them cover to cover. But, the cool thing was that he brought them home in perfect condition for all of us to read and enjoy. It was as if the local news stopped for a day and after work, the nice neat folded newspapers arrived by special carrier, our dad. Ha!

Since he had gone through several years of Buick ownership to this time period, a 41 fastback, a 49 4 door Roadmaster Sedan, now he drove home in a nice 1952 4 door two toned model, a first color unit for him.

It was a nice colorful car with the two tone blue and white combination. Plenty of room in the back for a couple of feisty brothers and our dog.

similar model and two tone color...

It was memorable, as it became the Baja California, Mexico, stuck in the barren road, Buick, of our memories and experiences. The sight of the big two tone Buick stuck in a drainage ditch in a long winding dirt road leading to what we (our dad) thought was the road to the beach camping area. Maps back then were not clear for the lower Baja Mexico landmarks and beaches. YRMV
