  1. I guess I don’t understand why the world outside of here has to mimic the world inside here.

    Where's the clock?

How can you have a high $$$ build and not find 8 matching balls?

I kinda like it and would much rather see something like this at SEMA than lots of the other stuff that shows up. At least it has its roots in the stuff we like even if some of the details aren’t how we might do it. Other than the LCD, the rest I could live with and would drive it. Pretty sure it wasn’t built to be completely traditional.

    Commissioned by Isky himself.
It’s more authentic than if you built a copy yourself.

It's the same world :). We're all crazy about cars.

Commissioned by Nolan Jamora, COO of Isky Cams, not Ed.

The car was built by Dennis Taylor and I love his work. The man is a perfectionist with everything he does.

Hide the LCD screen and a steering wheel change. Looks great I'd drive the wheels off of it. (Probably not hard with Godzilla power)

I'd say that Accurate Mike was spot on with his comment.

With that it is a modern tribute with modern pieces that show what those manufactures have to offer at SEMA where they sell and promote the new and latest trinkets.

In truth it does grow on you and if Ed approves so be it.

Personally I'd far rather see a tribute car like this that makes no bones about using modern pieces than another clone. Outside of a clone of a car that either disappeared or was destroyed by one reason or another.

  11. If Isky Cams blessed it then it’s an authentic Isky. Just not a copy of the original.
    It’s an authentic Isky tribute.

SEMA cars go on display or are/were commissioned by collectors by some of the best builders of the style the customer wants. Some we see in a few years at Barrett-Jackson and the $$$ hoped for usually don’t materialize. I’m not ever sure any are legal, licensed, or ever insured. Today it’s part of business of car reconstruction or building. It has its place and this tribute car helps prove it.

  13. All the cars my old work place built for or handled from Barrett Jackson were fully operational and insured.
And most high end builds are losses on paper. So is buying a new one.
Advertising for a builder is hard to beat.
For some it’s a hobby they don’t mind losing $$$$$

I don't hate it, as a matter of fact I like everything but the previously mentioned steering wheel, gauges and screen. The engine however in my opinion detracts fron the overall visual of the car, there is just absolutely nothing you can do to any of the late model O.T. engines to remove the ugly and make them look even close to any of the pre 65 traditional V8 engines, and no traditional Hot Rod of any type should have a computer....ever!

Commercial interests. The use of the word 'tribute' is a linguistic sleight of hand to garner some sort of moral high ground, but at the end of the day, we live in a commercial world. The end product may not align with everyone's sense of aesthetics or appropriate historical perspective, but what's done is done and done for a reason.

I’d be happy just to ride in it, especially if Alex Taylor would drive me around in it!

The top tier 1% fabricators here on the H.A.M.B. would be hard pressed to accomplish in a year what Dennis Taylor did, in something like 4 months! If he started with a nice body, it would be a major accomplishment, but he started with what most people would call a POS pile of scrap metal. He did a fantastic job, and I’m quite sure Ed likes it. It’s nice there was a ISKY tribute HOT ROD at SEMA…surrounded by all the freaking muscle cars!

The LCD screen made me want to vomit. Otherwise a modern tribute is nice,. Remember it’s a tribute not a clone. Ok some stuff is a little off the course but all in all a modern tribute.

I watched the first episode where they unveiled the concept of a tribute with modern technology. I had very low expectations for the project. Not because of any lacking in the Taylor family's talent, but rather just because it sounded like a recipe for a mess. So I didn't watch any more episodes until the very end.

And I am very impressed. This turned out amazing. It does not look like the confused hodgepodge of new and old that I envisioned. It works. Given the tight time frame, I expect that some of the stuff like the steering wheel was last minute, get it done now type stuff.

Any early turtledeck T build that puts the rearend all the way to the rear (instead of having the deck hang off the back awkwardly) automatically has my approval. All of my other feelings about it have already been mentioned by others. A fair amount of my own T was inspired by Isky's car. Miles away from a clone/tribute, but definitely a big influence.

I really like the comparison shots that Texashardcore put up. The license plate with the very next number in the sequence is a nice touch.

I like it for what it is, a tribute not claiming to be the original. Not out to fool anyone. And don’t think for a minute those old guys would not embrace new technology. They did it all the time. In fact if they could see this site back then they would probably piss themselves laughing at us for wanting to embrace obsolete technology.
