  1. Yes, but all these cars are (Were) race or photographed outside of the H.A.M.B. era, Weld drag wheels were not available in the 50s, or early 60s.

Just as bead lock wheel were not available in the 60s…
    upload_2023-11-10_4-52-6.png

but vintage racers of today run them

Weld wheels was founded by the Weld family and oval track races and chassis builders they still build oval track wheels.

Do you reckon anyone ever wandered into MacDonalds and said they don't like the color of Ronald's hair, and proceeded to argue that it should be blue...???o_O Seems possible.....

Mike - and fellas..... report any / all the posts with Weld Wheels on them and Mods will delete them.
Mods donate their time and sometimes posts are missed with newer than 65 style ( 70's-90's) wheels.
We count on you fellas to help keep things Traditional. ( Pre-65).
    Thanks.

This site has THE best photos hope thread. They can put any wheel on your car you want. They are very helpful. Let them work their magic then post it up.

How many here can agree that the NSRA got diluted when they went from PRE 49 to whatever it is now?
I also have appreciation for cars that do not fit this forum, and have occasionally broken the rules here and had posts deleted. Mea culpa. However, I try to understand the rules and follow them, even though I am not old enough to have been building cars at the time frame this site is defined by.
Each forum is going to have a defined purpose and limitations on what is acceptable. This site has been firm on it's scope for the entire time I've been here. While there has been occasional bleed over, due to either a lack of OG materials such as paint or cleaners, or better tools being within reach of the hobbyist such as metal shaping, welders, and painting equipment, along with modern replacements for older rare components, the focus and moderation is a big part of why this place remains successful.
This is the project of one guy who started it and attracted like minds. It was his vision and it's been shared by many others. It is good enough that it has weathered the changing times, the changing world and even remaining consistent in how users interact, although I'm sure the background has experienced huge changes. Anyone remember the migration?

Yeah, the car that Mike VV is talking about is probably borderline HAMB material. The rear wheels are tucked in instead of radiusing the fender openings because it’s a 4dr. The current wheels are too modern. It’s not common gasser material but I’m certain that at least one or two were engine swapped and raced somewhere in this country way back when we used to make a gasser out of whatever small car we could find. My buddy and I started with a Hillman sedan delivery back in the 60s.
Mike has access to some Halibrands and I’m pretty sure they will be on there as soon as he can get appropriate tires. With the satin black paint, the unpolished Halibrands will make it look meaner.
I spent the day with the car yesterday and it’s a blast. It’s no jacked up poser cartoon car, it’s very unusual, very loud and very fast, the basic formula for a fun street car. Does it fit within the bounds of this forum? The mods will decide. We’re trying to make arrangements to bring it home this weekend.

If it is a tubbed narrowed rear end pro street looking car, then NO it does not fit in here... but nobody had pm'd me a picture of the car so it is all a silly guessing game

^^^^. I’ve sent questions to Mark along the lines of “can I ….”? Never had a bad experience, he won’t snap back at you and will give it a yes or no.

I have asked @Moriarity if certain pictures are acceptable and have always received a cordial response except once when he replied: "hell no" :D. I have had a few deleted because of wheels but I am old and have brain fade on occasion. I have become a master of editing too. The rules are really very simple to follow. No pro street, no rubber band tires, no Mustangs, no funny cars. Old is gold.

    :D
Yeh, too bad about Bovan, got mixed up with the wrong crowd, went from hero to zero.
The car and some of it's famous shots I saw in magazines as a kid really cemented the F/C deal with me, we had a few heros in our area, too bad they aren't HAMB Kosher.

    My favorite.

I never quite understood why no Mustangs even if time period correct. Still there are other sites where my '65, been in the family since new, is appreciated, but they don't like hot rods.

But I can't add my new car to the list.

Hey Mike. Do as Lloyd did, black out the wheels and post it up. Or lay some cardboard on them, etc. seems an easy way.

I always try to play by the rules here, I appreciate that this is not my sandbox! I just wish I could find another place that has half the brain trust as the Hamb that would allow me to show off my current project. (70's era hot rod).

Report every pic you find of Weld Wheels Mike to Moderators and we will delete them.
Moriarity ask for a picture and you haven't sent it.
If you aren't going to send a pic to Moriartity then send it to me and I'll edit it later tonight after I go to dinner and your wheels are covered. Yep - tight ship.

What you fellas kind of don't think of is with 250,000 plus members and if we allow a couple to get by then another 100 want a pass too.

Not going to allow non traditional wheels.

We donate our time and yep we miss some posts.
If you find them - report them.

    Thanks

Even I know that the answer to that one. Mustangs even the 65 and its predecessor, are not hot rods and they aren’t customs. They are pony cars (muscle car lite) and don’t support what we’re laying down here.

I own muscle cars. @Moriarity owns a muscle car, from the pictures I see of members garages, thousands of us do. I am a big fan of the genre, I also like pizza but I don’t go to a steak house to order one.
