Some photos of one of the runs at the Yamba meet, pinched from the Borderline club's FaceAche site:

The steering wheel is on the wrong side in all those cars!

Impressive group of cars there. Wondering why some have cycle fenders and others without….

    Hey G,

Great photos and thanks for taking the time to document the nice working vacation. We could all be so lucky, although being retired has its advantages, too... ha!

But, there is something strange and weird seeing the right hand drive position on old hot rods. We have been in plenty of right hand drive cars over the zillion years, but none in a hot rod. Strange, but, if we lived there, it would be a commonplace.

Fenders are a requirement under law for registration down here. Some follow the law, some don't....... (and some cars are trailered in). And if caught, "They were definately on when I left. Must have come loose along the way...." ;)

@guthriesmith , looks like you may have just had the best day of your visit down here with us. I am happy that you made the effort to get yourself to Yamba. Hope you had a great time man. Thanks for the pics.:)

  11. Yep, best day so far. :D My buddy in Canberra hooked me up with a couple mates from his car club that picked me up in a 35 Fordor and took me to a cafe after the show then let me hang out with them all day in the campground. The main guy putting the show on, Lew, gave me a wristband so I could have dinner and I got to meet lots of great folks. In one of the pics I posted you can see Dave and Brian (from the back at least) that gave me a ride in the 35. Oh, I also got to meet @Dago 88 or Charlie in real life. He walked up to me and asked if I was the guy in the pic on his phone. :) Amazing day after a beautiful ride along the Pacific Motorway! It was great to escape the craziness in Gold Coast.

  16. Few I missed…. The one with the line was for dinner which was great. And, they gave away a few awards as well in the tent. Also saw a familiar Beatnik jacket.

Man thanks for going to Yamba and all of the great pictures. I think this is what you’ll remember and consider as the highlight of your trip.

  18. I suspect you are right Rusty. I seem to remember you telling me about a show up near you that me and my boys went to last June as well. :D Anyway, I still have a garage crawl coming up this coming Saturday that should also be another highlight.

Great pictures. Looks like a fun trip. I bet that driving on the opposite side of the road was an experience to remember.

Yep, this had to be way better than hanging out on a boat with a bunch of sea-sick drunks and surrounded by "Jaws" aunts, uncles and cousins.

  24. Thanks for the pics! Anything stand out to you as interesting differences between Aussie vs American cars, car shows, car culture other than the whole LHD vs RHD steering wheels?

  25. The main thing that stood out to me was how the rod run was structured overall. Best I could tell, the whole event was almost more about just hanging out with lots of friends eating together, camping, driving the cars, etc. than what many of the shows in the states are. It was about family and friends with the cars being the backdrop and common interest that brought them all together. I go to a couple shows in the states with a somewhat similar feel but this just seemed a little different and I like it. I wish I could have spent the whole weekend to get an even better understanding. Otherwise, everything else seemed familiar when it comes to the cars, people, conversations, etc. I haven’t felt like I fit in somewhat since I have been here in Australia until hanging out in Yamba yesterday. But, that is also kind of like living in the states and mainly associating with guys like hang out here. :D

@SS327 Not all, some are converted, some stay as they are imported and some were assembled over there

I guess some choose to run the gauntlet or take them off at the event. They use to have some rules and reg about fenders etc, maybe it has changed

@guthriesmith thank you for the pics, cheers
