I can see it now! Love the kickstands.

I’m attempting to go from a 350 pound engine in my A to a 650 pounder so beefing up the chassis has come to mind. Seems boxing would really help with cross steer, I was just thinking that this morning. It really wants to twist that rail unless everything is just perfect. Which everyone knows the streets are anything but.

would be rad if you can run the stock center dump manifolds I’ve always really liked the look of them.

. Hahaha… using my own words against me-

Lots of twist on those rails for sure, I added a Crossmsmember with side mounts to the engine to help alleviate that in its current setup.

I was studying that painting of Keith’s and noticed the frame and under the fenders are painted red… That’s such a cool detail, I’m gonna do this. It reminds me of red glyptal inside of an engine block. I think I’m going to paint my frame, under the fenders and the block candy red. Valve covers chrome or silver..

    Thanks Ron!

Good idea, I’m thinking the big heavy is going to use factory side mounts - far forward- and I’ll add mounts off the bell housing and then the stock trans mount.

    Red frame sounds super cool

    Piddly, shit,
isn’t that what they call it?

    IMG_5923.jpeg
This greasy thing showed up today… missing the cover band and the pulley… thankfully I saved a ton of stuff from the shop fire and had a burned 57 hemi gen that I borrowed the missing parts from. I also had the brackets.
    IMG_5935.jpeg IMG_5938.jpeg
Got the linkage on the carbs and picked up return springs. Also bolted up the new fuel pump with hose fittings.
    IMG_5939.jpeg IMG_5940.jpeg
I need to trim the bottom pulley down to a single groove in the lathe, I have a single pulley bottom but it doesn’t come out far enough to line up with this other pulley.. the generator is 57, the water pump pulley is 53 and the crank pulley is 55. Thank god I’ve been collecting pulleys… I was mix and matching but this setup works with no shimming.
    IMG_5918.jpeg IMG_5917.jpeg
Charlie price adapters for these air cleaners showed up so they fit the base of the Carters. Picked up some 1/4-20 rod and stainless wing nuts and got this checked off the list. Carb gaskets showed up and I have block off plates for the rear of the heads.
    IMG_5927.jpeg

I also bought a beugler so I can pinstripe my wheels. I’m going to make a fixture that fits in the center of the wheel so they all turn out the same. I used to have one I got from Perry Lindberg but lost it in the shop fire. Excited to get another one! IMG_5962.jpeg

Tuck, you can actually take a Gm fuel pump that is the carter style and use the insides to rebuilt that one,ive had those laying around before to scavenge for parts, or you can buy a rebuilt kit for it too.

Thanks Jeff that’s great to know! I found a place that sells kits for these, I’m ordering two of them.. I found another one of these Carter pumps on one of my other hemi’s, I'm going to need one for my 29 roadster too. They’re the same from 51-55 hemi it looks like.

My dad has a Beugler he "borrowed" from Ford back when they used them in the plant! I "pinstriped" my 51 dash with it back when I was like 17. Looked like shit but I thought it ruled! Haha!

    Hahaha… that rules.

If you look at those crab claw flames in the background of my hemi I did those when I was 17 too, my first ever flame job.

I had a Master pinstriper over 50 years ago. Mom's kitchen had a ceramalite board that she painted with white enamel. My mother used the pinstriper to renew the black lines that gave the 4x4 faux tiles grout lines. It looked really good with nice crisp lines. Barker Ceramalite board was common in 1940 and 1950 houses in this part of the country, My aunt Anne was visiting and liked how mom refreshed the appearance of the ceramalite so mom lent the pinstriper to my aunt. Mom got it back to take over ownership of the pinstriper and from there I lost track of it. They are great tools. It had the adjustable guide that could run against a straight edge or trace the edge of masking that was offset parallel to the intended pinstripe line.

Dude…, I love it so much! Such a good 1960’s blue. I can’t wait to paint more parts blue!

The fire red is on its way, I can paint the hemi, backing plates and some other parts. Then I gotta get on those fenders.

I painted the master cylinder and the wheel cylinders along with the starter tonight in black polyurethane enamel.

    FUN!

The fuel pump I got said 51-55, but… I had another parts motor that’s a 55 block and pulled the pump and it was different. So did some research,.. and found a remanufactured one on eBay. I’m going to rebuild the NOS one I picked up and run it in my roadster.

Heated and bent the gen bracket into place.

I’m also making a block off plate for the crossover and will run the thermostat on the intake.
    IMG_6035.jpeg

More parts painted. The starter is a 1957 up to match my flywheel. I got the backing plates in surfacer, the fire red won’t be here until later in the week.

Need to get tubes inbound for these!

Making a simple sand cast pattern out of maple for one of my block off plates… didn’t like the fin orientation on the first one so I changed it so in case I decide to mill off the outer find there will be 3 fins. Making it thick so I can mill the bottom nice and flat. I’ll probably radius the edges of the fins a lot more and primer surface it.

I’ll pour it using my mini mite on Monday when my class is casting.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

The paint showed up for the Hemi, same color I’ll spray the frame and the underside of the fenders. Not doing this stuff in lacquer… this will all be urethane.

-the new pump showed up and it’s a new casting… not sure who is making these. It looks good.

Looking real good! What kind of wood are you making the mold from? Saw the fuel block on IG, looked crisp!

Thanks Tim. It’s made from maple. It’s a hard hardwood that you can mill easily with router bits and shape with sandpaper.
-that fuel block was one of my students- that pattern was made from a 3d print. I could’ve 3d printed this too but it takes too damn long for such a simple design.

I might make my own fuel block for this. It would be fun to make a mold with a core.

Thanks man Can’t wait to get the hemi in paint!

@Runnin shine shit they do look like Mikes roadster! I’d say Tucks right on track for the late 50’s then!
