Before I drop a big chunk of change can anyone recommend a company selling a windshield and back glass for a 52 customline? There's a company on ebay that stocks all of it, and from some reading it seems steele is the go to rubber for proper fit and sealing. I'm planing to do paint, headliner and glass over the winter since I'll have to mess with one to do the other correctly so to speak.
Auto City Classic is the go to vendor for glass. https://www.autocityclassic.com/195...nd-mercury-coupe-sedan-wagon-windshield-w244/ Couldn't find the back glass on their website but, they are selling one through their Ebay store. x2 on Auto City for glass, Steele Rubber is VERY expensive, Dennis Carpenter parts are usually good and many vendors sell their stuff so shop around for price and watch shipping charges. I bought most of my parts from Concours Parts. My glass all came from Auto City as well as radiator, gas tank and sender.
x3 I could have typed Rustville's reply exactly as mine, except most seals and other stuff were bought from Classic Auto in OKC.
I got my windshield from Sanders Repro Glass in Washington state. The $$ was better than ACC and the shipping was too. I had it shipped to a buddy's shop and it was there in 5 days. https://www.sandersreproglass.com/
I had a conversation with a guy at Steele products a couple months ago. They do not manufacture all the seals they sell and they are not all made in the USA. My problem was a poor fitting top glass seal that I purchased because the seal from another vender fitted poorly as well. After that conversation I doubt I'll do any more business with them.
They do get some of their products from Dennis Carpenter, since Dennis passed away his son is using some offshore suppliers and quality is not what it used to be with rubber products, the air vent ducts used on 1952–54 Fords are pure garbage and very thin they rotted away in about six months. It is best these days to call in your order and talk to a human and ask where the product is made before you buy, online ordering is a gamble these days. Companies like MSD and Pertronix are mostly offshore made now, Google the name of the company with "Made in China" and watch what comes up.
I got the windshield and door glass from Street Rod Glass in Riverside. He's a good guy to deal with and a super nice guy as well. He ships all over. Street Rod Glass – Classic Auto Glass, Rubber, & Power Windows (951) 789-8870
They were one I looked at when I was windshield shopping. Metro Glass was another. They also had things like glass channel. IIRC, they were one of the few that would ship an 8-footer length.
