I've never noticed those anti-rotation bumps before, but maybe I just wasn't paying attention. Best I can figure is they'd be used on vehicles with a self-adjusting clutch. With the self-adjusting system when the clutch is engaged there is no air gap between the bearing face and the release fingers on the pressure plate. The bearing always turns at engine speed even when your foot is off the clutch pedal. Seems like they ought to work just fine with a manually adjusted clutch with an air gap as well.

I am this many years old before I saw one with the bump. What is the brand?

I have always thought it was okay for it to spin if it wanted to, or not spin if it didn't want to. On my car, everything was new and mine was noisy above 3000 RPMs for a short while, then the parts got to like each other and quieted down. That's my 2¢...

I’ve seen them without the bump but when it comes to Corvettes with a Muncie/T10 I’ve only seen them with the bump, but then I’m only a kiddywink ;)

My clutch set is a Zoom, I never looked to see who made the TOB. But it had no rib... obviously an option for her pleasure... :D:D:D

No noise yet, I've not driven it very much though. But the noise was rare before I changed it. Very strange.

I believe the interest is that a bunch of us have been doing this stuff for over 50 years, and the bumps on a TOB is something we have never seen before. Just my .02 worth. Always something new to learn.

I haven't installed anyway near the number of bearings that some of you have. But I do remember some had a bump and some had this pin. This is a McLeod bearing

Interesting, I have a McLeod NOS in my spare parts, probably at least 15 years old. with the "bump"...

I’ve had them with flats milled in the shaft that fit between the forks and I’ve had the ones with clips that held them to the fork, but never seen one with bumps like that.

If you're going to say things like "I am this many years old" you have to post a picture of yourself holding up the appropriate number of fingers. :p And it better be more than just one finger!

I finally got around to fixing that pesky tail light. They problem is there's a brass tube which contacts the bulb, and is pressed into a steel sleeve, which is crimped into the pot metal housing, which is 62 years old. An added ground wire takes care of the decades of corrosion that causes faulty ground connection.

Had to do that on many cars, where the socket lost ground to the pot metal housing.

I forgot about how almost every electrical item on a Corvette had to have a separate ground wire. Did your car originally have a separate ground lead from each lamp to the frame, or was there a cross-car harness that grounded all the lamps to a single point on the chassis somewhere?

The rear light harness has a ground wire for each tail light housing. Each has a ring terminal fits on the stud, just like my new wire.

You’re going to lose points at the corvette shows with that modification. :)

My wife. 40th anniversary Sunday, what a swell guy I am taking her on a trip in an old car for the special occasion!

(here she is trying to brush her hair after all that wind)

    thanks!

traffic wasn't bad at all, it's all about timing.

Also, the car is running a big rough at idle/off idle, so I'll look at some stuff on it tomorrow. I brought my helmet so I can go drag racing, too.
