Not to be argumentative or to give anyone a RA but this is on Post #9 of part 1 dated December 18, 2009. 14 years ago. I rather think that it has NOT "always been car / truck related. Just say'n. Post #29 Page 1
And just saying …..it hasn’t always been as closely watched, it was reported to me pics of Jane Fonda were posted that upset guys that felt disrespected who served in VietNam….. You can be darn sure I’m deleting pics such as that, to be respectful to them. This is first and foremost a Traditional Hot Rod and Custom Car Website. If it’s relative to a car/ truck in the pic, ok. I clarified in my second post - I posted as a reminder that if your person picture post gets deleted, send me a PM to chat. We moderate to keep as many people as possible happy. And just saying, there won’t be any arguments on it.
You are quite correct, there are endless posts of old photos which have nothing to do with cars and trucks since Ryan started version 2 and posted the new rules. Sometimes the girlie shots get a little overdone. And on another note, no matter what you do in this world, it will offend someone plain and simple. Trouble is, if you make a rule to fix one thing it always seems to cause 6 more problems. Quietly removing the odd post may just be the only way out on this sort of thing. I dunno, just sayin'.
Here's a pic of my dad's family in Hayward, CA around 1945. The kids are my cousins. Can anybody ID the car?
Can't we just go with the flow? I don't know the guy but @corncobcoupe is trying his best to make people happy. Let's just give the changes a chance and abide by the modified rules. In my opinion, glamour shots take up a lot of space on a car site, but that is just my opinion. I have no opinion about Hanoi Jane other than I am a Vietnam combat vet and appreciate her deletion. Thanks for that. Some of you guys who are adamant about the changes being the end of the world as we know it, maybe check out the main board, there are hundreds of threads that may suit your needs and enjoyment. I didn't want to cause a shitstorm, but I have to change my postings here also.
My dad worked for Western Pacific RR. He called them Budd cars. They were motorized passenger cars manufactured by the Budd corporation. Budd actually manufactured many passenger rail cars. I rode in one through the Central Valley and the Feather River Canyon before the Oroville Dam was built . The railroad used them mostly for transporting workmen to and from different locations.
While I certainly agree with dumping ANYTHING related to Hanoi Jane (and too am upset when I see her) but I thought this thread was intended for interesting old pics that MAY NOT be car related. Am I wrong? Avoiding political or insensitive content should be observed by all, but a little cheesecake never hurt anyone (even Jimmy Carter lusted in his heart.... that's a joke, NOT a political statement).
Yea - it’s hasn’t been watched as closely and I frankly lost track of how much non - Traditional Hot Rod and Custom stuff is posted. Ok - let’s just roll with Vintage Pictures and just remember, if it gets deleted, someone reported it and it will be looked at. I deleted the Jane Fonda Pics out of respecting the fellas in Vietnam that were not feeling great about the post. The old photos are neat. I lost track of how many non car / truck related pics there were. The Pin Ups were starting to take over. Let’s roll for now and enjoy some old pics. Fair enough ? Just remember it’s Ryan’s website so anything stays or goes it’s his decision.
If you been following this thread for a while you can usually see when and which posts are circling the drain and are about to get flushed. If you don't know it will be pointed out and corrected. I've been corrected on other threads myself. Don't take it personal.
