1960 Cadillac El Camino For High Speed Deliveries

    Hello,

Our dad has always liked Buicks since his first one in 1946, a 41 grey/silver fastback model. He and his friend were in some sort of competition as far as new cars was concerned. our dad had the philosophy of saving enough money for 4 years to buy a new model of… a Buick, of course.

    So, a 41, a 49, 53, 57, 63 wildcat + 63 Riviera, 68, 72, 76, and his last one an 82. His best ones were the 57 2 door Roadmaster and 63 Riviera.

But, in the same line, his friend purchased a Cadillac along similar lines. 7 to be in the same mode. Every 4-5 years to be in line with our dad. No one said anything, but my brother and I knew something was up every 4 years. When we would see our dad’s friend, he had a fairly new Cadillac. Not our brand of tea, but a Cadillac sedan, not a Buick.

So, after I got my El Camino, he was still driving his 63 Riviera. So, there was no other choice. But, he liked that I would have plenty of space in the back for anything, especially motorcycles and when it was time, gardening trees and plants for our mom. The pickup bed was handy and since he usually drove to work by himself it was a natural. Plus, he and our mom were the only ones going places together.

He would have liked this version I drew several months ago.

This time, in all fairness to his competition with his friend, I drew a Cadillac version of the style he would have liked had he gone to an El Camino style and Cadillac made one… Boy, that would have been something to see two old guys standing around their respective Buick/Cad El Caminos "chewing the fat." Especially, if they were wearing their favorite "Dobbs Fedora" hats... YRMV

A slight rake to give it some attitude, fins and all… All in the holiday RED color mode…

Many years ago, when I was a kid, the "JOIE CHITWOOD" Auto dare devils/thrill show, came to the Merced Fairgrounds, and it was a hoot to watch all of the stunts those guys did.

So I dug through my double stack of industrial flat files and I found this in a protective sleeve, I had forgotten about it for years.

I think the top piece which is old and fragile cardboard, was possibly part of an advertisement for McQuay-Norris or possibly MOOG, it was sitting on a table for sale at a swap meet for $1.00, so I quickly bought it.
The jumping car is unique because who ever the artist was, they forgot to put any doors on this car, and its hard to actually identify what make and model the car is.

The roadster with the track nose, was a section from the "HOTRODARAMA" poster, that happened in Tacoma years ago.

So I thought I would be creative and kind of recreate the "CHITWOOD" thrill show, but only on paper, via photography.

Hope you all have a great "FAS"
    Thanks from Dennis.

Thanks all for the wonderful art.
Chrylerfan55 isn’t “not being quite right” a requirement to be on here?

OOPS. Sorry guys, my post got whacked again. I guess I'll never learn. This time for "cartoonish" modern wheels...even though the artwork was actually done before the HAMB ever existed:(.

But I get it. Rules are rules...It's my own fault...I WILL be more careful of what I'm posting.

I think this one was the only one that was acceptable.

Thought about the Hamb tonight so I came to see if Friday art shows were still going on, glad to see it's still a thing and see familiar artists <3
It's ornament season so figured why not post some here.

  27. Awesome stuff @metalhotrodgirl Jen, great to see you back, congrats on the ornament sales!

I'm not late, I've been preoccupied with the family. My mother-in-law slipped sweetly away surrounded by may loved ones the other night. Thanks to old friends for the overwhelming condolence replies on Instagram and FB if you are among them. They are very healing indeed!
Wish I had something new but I was a bit preoccupied.
