Huge respect for Buck, and as a performer, he was all about the fans. Right up until the night he died. Nice power plant in the Merc.

  6. Didn’t know he was a car guy. Three pedals, cool.

Man oh man, another Horne intake!!! I also see a flat cap Mallory distributor in there, pretty awesome engine, don't see a canister oil filter so it must be a 390?

  11. Buck was as bald as a cue ball. One of his older record jackets shows him with quite a wide part.

I saw him on TV some years ago, some country music award. Dwight Yoakum was doing his introduction, Buck was about 73 sheets-to-the wind. They cut to a commercial, when the show came back, no Buck Owens...

  12. And it’s got the cool steering wheel
Real spot lights and 3 pedals

    Mmmmmm

    is that an overdrive pull?

I dig on Buck Owen's music, but I don't love the car. It seems like a good example where having the right elements doesn't necessarily lead to a top notch custom. Here you see Merc accessory wheel, Cadillac engine with Horne intake, manual trans, a chopped convertible top, and so on. But the end result is just sort of "eh". The overall scheme is sort of '80s '50s.

I know one thing for sure is that traditional customs do not do well at auctions, I believe the whole sale is no reserve, unless someone really cares about the Buck Owens part, this could sell for really cheap

I think that is because they are tooo personalized. Auction is not the way to go in my opinion on that car. They say there is a buyer for everything, but you need two or more to make an auction work. One buyer gets the car cheap

  25. I agree, that's the way it works. I do not see the car bringing a lot of money at BJ.
