Like my old friend Dean used to say "You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on"

I don't have to do that down here in the Riverina area of N.S.W., Australia. Just had a couple of days around 107.6 F and the temperature in the shipping container I keep my racecar in hit 49 C or 120.2 F.

Must be nice. It's starting to get in the 20's f here. Snow will be here soon. I would take hot over cold anytime.

  6. Today I dragged the 57 Pontiac out of the back room, vacuumed off the cob webs & took a bunch of pictures of it. Since I bought "Stubby" I don't need to build my own Gasser, so it will be up for sale on here & FB Marketplace after Christmas along with the Speedway straight axle kit & rebuilt/re-plated tri-power setup.

    God Bless & Merry Christmas

Opened an early Christmas present for the race car. Now maybe this thing won't run 295 degrees. :)

IMG_0184.jpeg IMG_0181.jpeg IMG_0183.jpeg Started cleaning and painting engine parts this week. Noticed while in the parts washer that the oil pan was dented in on the bottom. Looks like the oil pump pickup was really close, or touching,as I could see some witness marks inside the pan.
I took a 2x4 and sledgehammer to straighten it out best I could by eye. I’ll check clearance to the sump on assembly.
Before and after pics. I wonder if this contributed to the low oil pressure I saw on this engine?

Some of the bigger core radiators need to be notched for steering box clearance on a 62 Bel Air.

  14. Hey Lumpy, a 351w? Looks interesting. The FE is my favorite Ford, but the Windsors are darn good engines. What is yours destined for?

    That's a beautiful radiator.

  16. Years ago I upgraded my manual steering on my 64 biscayne and then found out I needed a notched radiator to clear the box. An unpleasant surprise since I had to retire my 4 core new desert cooler which I still have in inventory:rolleyes:

changed the engine for an earlier style fits much better
    starter on the other side
oil pan has a rear bowl and clears the drag links
cast exhaust manifolds are hugger so the column is much further away that the other one
    motor mounts more forwards
the stock floor ' WILL FIT WITH NO GOOBERING'
this engine was never released with a manual transmission, it is a ford cologne engine -
had its DEBUT IN 1964 so it is HAMBTASTIC
so you have to scour the planet for a mt75 v6 gearbox, in the uk they only existed in v6 vans in two wheel drive layout- in europe they exist but are rare now so you have to make a hybrid using the almost able to find 4 wheel drive cologne v6 case
so now you have to do it yourself and take a 2wd rear tail from a ford van or the rarer earlier cars and STINK OF USED TRANSMISSION FLUID for two weeks
    IMG_20231223_183812.jpg
upswept cast headers, stock aluminican il pan with the bowl REALLY far back, look at the space for the drag link why dontcha!!
    IMG_20231223_183556.jpg
can get the pulley almost in the flathead position, with the stock firewall
    IMG_20231223_183549.jpg
when they were first launched they were cable clutch, in their evolution they co to a hydraulic slave, you grind away the two struts and mount a slave there adn use the stock oem transit van fork
IMG_20231223_183538.jpg got to sink the rear down into the x member and make a ring of some sorts, shifter from van sits on tail, no s10 t5 tail required compact box 22 inches long - small ish diameter 240mm or 9.5 inch clutch is v860 size, so.... the stock floor will go in!!
    IMG_20231223_161610.jpg
exhaust manifolds hug and dump JUST WHERE YOU WANT to aim towards the holes in x member
    IMG-20231223-WA0006.jpg
need the stock firewall back now FFS
    IMG-20231223-WA0004.jpg
out with the new, in with the old!!!
    IMG-20231222-WA0018.jpg
start with the hard to find 4wd box v6 cologne
    IMG-20231222-WA0021.jpeg
    find a 2wd tail
    IMG-20231223-WA0002.jpg
It is really quite a compact drive train, starter really helps being on this side rhd. there was too much going on with the starter drivers side, manifold, BIG saginaw 800 and the engine mount in there.
have to nibble and the centre x a bit, but realistically it wants up and over stiffening like a 41 onwards frame, do not have to split the wish - bone - bonus

Interesting, guess I should look up the history on that one.

    29 Model A s

I rebuilt the NH carb on my 26 T rpu, changed the oil, new plugs, added fresh gas and fuel stable (to the empty tank), and charged the battery. The last time I worked on it was about 2years ago but it only turned over 4 times and started up. I probably did all this because I feel guilty for not finishing it and planning to start a new 29 A sedan banger project in the next few weeks.

I’m working on a 29 roadster body im impatiently awaiting its arrival .. hand delivered from North Dakota down to North Carolina.. going on a stock a chassis and running gear , with a few speed parts. A set of 18” wires are coming with the body. .. kind of a “ early dry lakes” car. IMG_3452.jpeg IMG_4699.jpeg

Readjusted the rockers after break in. Adjusted timing and idle. Did drive the car out of the garage for the first time. Only about 15 feet. Would have went farther if I had a steering wheel on the car.
