    red primer sedan

    Hello,

If the current owner has owned the Willys sedan since 1959, then here is the film I took at the 1959 Riverside Raceway East VS West drag meet. All of the top racers in So Cal welcomed the competition from the top racers from across the USA. It was one heck of an event. An all day from the dark to the same darkness on the way home. December 1959. Some racers in every category at the time from all over So Cal and primarily from the western portion of the USA. The big names like Garlits from the East, Langley from Texas and The Chizzler from the Midwest were all in attendance.

It was not raised up in front in the pits, it just raised itself between shifts...

It just happen to be the only sedan in the Gas Coupe and Sedan classes that had the power to lift the front end off of the ground when shifting. Very powerful and loud. Despite the nice poster on the driver’s door, I had no idea who owned or drove it.

No, it was not the record setting Green Willys sedan of Weddle-Nichol during the same time period.

The green paint was not a primer. It looked stock. The Green Willys Sedan was very fast.

On this day, Weddle-Nichols-Peters won the B/Gas Class. But, previously, it set the record for the C/Gas Class on a different day.

    Weddle- Nichols-Peters:

I'm sure you've been asked this before Dave, but do you ever get the itch to make a few passes in the 'ol girl? I don't know how you couldn't.

Hahahaha......to be honest, the thought has crossed my mind. But then I come to my senses!! With my luck it wouldn't work out well. Truthfully, it is amazing that the "ol girl" has made it this far!! And she sure looks a lot better than those two old guys in the photo!!!
