Went to speedway auto salvage they have thousand of old cars mostly from 1940 and 1970 in dacono Colorado, found these pedals on a 40s frame in a row of desoto a but not sure exactly what they are from but I’m goin to use the petals and the use the master as a template for a bracket for them, snagged a few pics of a small bit of it. My phone was low on battery 63211E32-D5E6-4595-98B3-25515108719D.jpeg D0FB0BFA-5CDF-4068-8828-3404ABA8B4F8.jpeg C476EA68-7A45-417F-8CEB-CB7D90B1DC18.jpeg 74098467-A53E-45B5-B4F8-3070F6300262.jpeg

Not a lot of room for a gas pedal and a foot.

It’s just mocked up for now, I’m going to bend them a bit to give me more room , plus the structure that’s there could hug the trans a lot better so I’m gonna remake it it plus I don’t like it

Well things kinda went in a different direction. Sold the flathead, and went with a chevy 250 straight 6.

Made new mounts for that and boxed the front framerails, and started making radiator supports.

And finally got to start making the firewall and floor for the car so I can pull the body off.

been a while sense ive worked on it, but I finally have my own garage now and hope to start getting back into it. 20231216_120936.jpg 20231216_142426.jpg 20231218_095537.jpg 20231219_183622.jpg 20231219_192216.jpg 20231219_221358.jpg 20231221_210102.jpg 20231221_223314.jpg 20231222_104042.jpg 20231222_124225.jpg 20231222_172938.jpg 20231222_174909.jpg

Finished up the front crossmembers, and trimmed the radiator supports down.

Also put the passenger side toe boards and trans tunnel side on 20231225_194417.jpg 20231225_191229.jpg

Sat there looking at the car for hours, thinking something needs changes. scrolling threw the interwebs and found this picture.

An hour later I've cut the roof off to take 2 inches out of the back and 3 in the front and extend the roof 20231226_133018.jpg 20231226_134543.jpg

I'm using a 50 chevy back cab roof and top skin, mixed with the 51 ford a pillars, windsheild, and door frames

Cool build! Are you planning on using any other Shoebox parts to make it more identifiable as a custom Shoebox built truck? I.E. Tail lights grill parts etc? By the way, did I mention I love it!

    Thanks!!

I want to use the taillights, steering wheel and have the interior done in the stock patterns for seat and doors if possible.

So far everything 51 for now is the doors, half the roof, cowl, the trim for the windows, wing windows.

My favorite part is the dash 20231227_201950.jpg

And I did think about incorporating the Bullet from the original grill but it looked something like this d2a646dd5455cdb267f7c3cb23c7785f.jpg

Wich I like but not on this car

Pretty happy with the new look.

Even sat in it and found I still have about 8 inches of headroom from the top. 20231227_202207.jpg 20231227_201950.jpg

I prefer the 49-50 ford dash, but I have to say the 51 ford dash cut down as you did looks killer! It fits perfect and belongs there straight from the factory! Can't wait to see more! 1949-50 Ford !8" Crestliner steering wheel might be too big to work. Either way, cool ass build!
