Hot Rods What is your “favorite part” of your hot rod or custom?

I really like the 40 dash I put in my 29 Roadster and the car club plaque on the back that was my Dad's club back in 1958.

This is a neat thread! I love seeing the details that are personally loved... even though I know each car has several.

Every view of my A has a "favorite" little detail that I've obsessed about at some point. Most recently it's this header that's built to resemble my NOS 60s Hedman on the other side but clear the steering box/column and give space for the plugs.

 

Don't see these very often so I guess I should be proud of my rearend!

 

And here I thought I had the only hot rod SBC in the world with plain stock valve covers!

 

Those are not a "favorite" part of mine, personally. Haha. I have a neat set of early Mickey Thompson's that will go on the small-block once I'm at that point.

The clock and speedo are 42 Ford, the gauges and the glove box have been filled in, the seats and steering wheel are t-bird.

 

I like it all, but I'd have to think really hard, either my carbs or my steering wheel. Or my battery box, maybe my taillights, oh God, I can't stop . lol

 

Maintaining the originality; OEM 2-tine colour scheme, trim and gauges (Updated movements), woodgraining and pearl steering wheel. The crossram 6x2 with Fenton headers and NOS emblems etc also help.

Stance.

 

Probably the p-40 control stick for the shifter handle. Took years to find one available. An Australian WW2 collector sold it to me.

 

It was looking out the windshield eye level with school bus drivers ! Lol
Man I miss that truck,it had a big blk on a 73 GMC 3/4 ton chassis. I sold it to a guy in Florida. Wonder where it is now ?

Well, I've shown two projects, here are some part(s) for my 66 Suburban that I consider my favorite.

Have to say, for me, the fact that my '33 was a shell and a roller for most of my life (part of the floor as well as the firewall were gone); it sat waiting to be built for +/_ 40-odd years until I brought her home. I used to pretend to "drive" it when I was knee-high to a hubcap. Built it (other than the engine and trans., and seat upholstery) in my outbuilding by myself - favorite part was actually the wiring. It ain't pretty, but I never set out to make it a trophy chaser; I drive the snot out of it. It's gotten full of bugs, and full of water (ok, not exactly full, but she's not watertight neither...) and gotten me everywhere I've gone and back. I refuse to paint it - same paint it's had since the early 70's (Somebody recognized the car in York a few years ago as having been in Timonium in '74 - paint was a dead giveaway; blew my mind!).

I guess there really isn't one singular part...
