Seeing as the unobtainable divcos are priced through the roof,I was looking for inexpensive 18 inch wheels for the Bonneville car and I found these rims they are 18x4.5 with a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern and a 4.25 backspace, they are solid center stamped steel construction.these are new wheels and only cost $135 a piece.Poor mans Divco's I guess. Here's a pick of one .they are the space saver wheel for a Nissan Murano.

I was parked next to a Nissan Murano the other day and I noticed it had 18" steel wheels with 235 tires,...thought it would look good with full Moon discs!

I have a pair of 18" Astro van (5-5 pattern) with 6.50-18 Firestones on em for the Beater. Cost me $10 for both wheels at the junkyard. The Murano (which looks like ya gotta be a morono to drive) is a good find!

S-10's have 16x4 space saver spares, look almost identical to that. Monte Carlo and similar have 15x4 inch wheels. These will take speed rated tires no problem. They also fit over disc brakes if you happen to use them up front.

Dunlop racing tires make a few tall tires ,I have a pair of 7.00x18 tires they are 32 inches tall, the SCTA Bonneville people rate them to about 250mph although they must have the tread shaved down a bit on the edges.
Here's a link to the people that sell them over here

dunlop has a 700-18 vintage racing tire that is rated to 149,but if you shave the tread down they are good for over 200.coker sells excelsior vintage racing tires that are rated at 149 also.it is also a 700-18.

just be ready to open wide, speed rated tires are pricy.

WHOOW! You can say that again! $400 for that Dun! And you still have to buy another one! And if you're going to do that you might as well get the fronts too! Not a poor mans tire by any means! Would be awesome to have though...

Mad-cad... what are you going to run on those $135 specials?

  14. I'm interested in this also. Do you know specifically who's running them , or where you heard this about 250 ? I don't mean to call you on what you said, I just want to talk to someone running them and that has run them up to 250, or however close, and how they arrived at that rating ? Before spending $1000.00+ on 2 tires & wheels to potentially have a life & death situation. I plan on my tank running 200+ by the end of the first meet.

There are quite a few cars using the Dunlop's,Jim Tone uses them on his fuel roadster and has gone 200+,Jim is also an SCTA official. Then there is Car #811 which is also a fuel roadster, they have been 237mph on the dunlops. All the people I've talked to shave just about all the extra tread off the dunlops so they won't 'chunk' the treads. On the landracing.com website there is alot of discussion about tires and rated speed.Hope this helps

One thing to keep in mind is the backspacing is deep. I had 4" x 16" spare tire rims on a 35 ford that someone put a Pacer front end on and the 4" backspacing solved the wide problem perfectly. So my 4" wheels had 4" backspacing and that could be too deep for your application.

18” space saver wheels have always been a go to for a vintage look. I believe Range Rovers were aluminum.. I’ve also used space savers for 16” Dunlops.

I don’t see any hubcap nubs, but a guy might be able to add them.

I bet they are cheap, maybe get one and see if you can make it take a Ford cap?

I’ve seen wheels like that with out Nubs on the inside get a little weld added for a bump to keep the cap on if that inner diameter works.

or again if the inner diameter work you can still buy the rivet on tangs that Lincoln’s used in place of the bumps fords have. Ford caps will work with them still

heres a link to car-part.com inventory on these wheels in your area, starting at 38 bucks each. Maybe you can modify to accept a ford cap....

Holiday boredom searching without checking the actual date (s) of the thread before you answer. It happens every major holiday.

It is actually relevant again as @krylon32 hasn't been able to find wheels....

Old thread, but I would like to add something, which I feel is important, and doubly so if this is a LSR car.

Quite a few space saver spare wheels only have a safety bead on one side. They often only have it on the outside lip, but not the inside lip.

I know that this is not an issue for many, but I wanted to put it out there.
