Dick Patterson was fastidious with his show (and street) cars. We all jokily called the seats lawn chairs. This was back in the day, I believe, when they had a point system that totaled up the winners in various classes show car classes.

    Teague 8x10.jpg

This is the famed Sadd, Teague and Bentley Blown Fuel Altered roadster at El Mirage -- in my mind, the greatest land speed roadster ever.

This is at El Mirage when they allowed cars to be pushed-off from the starting line to get started, and circle back, clean 'em out, get to a stop at the line, and then start their run (pushed if needed).

An aside -- years ago when I was the SpeedWeek (yes, it should be spelled this way) Program Editor, I usually selected a photo that either I or one of the other photographers had shot the previous year for the cover of the program. Well, it rained out that previous year so I just posted this El Mirage photo I'd loved so much. Got chewed out for it -- it being shot at El Mirage. No problem, it was already printed. That was my pay for the year.

You could use a Model T for just about anything.
