i am about to place an order with howells sheet metal are a good company to deal with being in New Zealand find it hard to find the right people to deal with thanks and happy new year to all
Do your research. This subject has been hashed and rehashed on this forum. General consensus is if you can't buy their product on E-Bay direct orders from them can be problematic.
They are a ****ty company to deal with, but have pretty decent parts. Buying on Ebay gives you a better shot at actually getting the parts on time, but sometimes even that is not 100%. In my opinion, they are not out to scam anyone out of money, but they do have a habit a saying a part is in stock but actually taking 3 months to get it to you. Hit the search ****on for details. -Abone.
Yeah this horse has been beat to death, dragged thru the field, tied to the back of a pick up truck and dragged down the road and left for roadkill on many occasions.... Just use the search function.... ...
I'll echo what everyone else has said. I had to buy one piece of sheetmetal for my roadster from Howell's as I couldn't wait any longer for Brookville to produce some. Got from ebay so it showed up in a week or so. But... had to do some major work to get it to fit!
Bought a panel for my Model A with their ad showing like 5 in stock, I heard nothing from them for two months and no reply to numerous requests. Complained to E bay and got my money back in a week.
Dave Howell told me that they are busy filling orders from places like Snyders who order hundreds of each item. Your order for 1 or 2 pieces is not as important. Thats not a good way to run a business but its their reality. That said, I have gotten each piece I ordered but not quickly. Ebay or places like Snyders is best
Snyder's is great to deal with and compe***ive on prices, if something is out of stock it shows on their site. I've bought parts from Snyder's for over 30 years with no problems.
