Technical What are you working on?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Lloyd's paint & glass, Jul 18, 2022.

  1. I modded the base for a 4BBL and am using a K&N filter inside the housing for vintage style with decent filtration.

    Works great ;)

Yesterday late morning I’m was told“There’s one more present I got us. It’s for later tonight”. Not exactly what was reeling in my mind as the day went by. IMG_2355.jpeg

Neither I or her finished in case any of you were wondering.

I painted my 56 Chevy project about 10 weeks ago ,so finally staring to get the wiring done before I get to final cut and polish. It’s a long winter and I’ve got nothing but time and a big pile of wood for the stove. See you in the spring"

It's a love/hate deal with me but here in The Great Wet North they get you through the gray days and nights when you don't want to work on projects. Once they start to look like something they're like a book, kind of hard to put down, found myself at midnite many times with a stiff neck and a headache from the damn things.

Fixed a rusty floor, and bought myself a new USA made tool. I just couldn't bring myself to buy one that said China on it. Now to build a stand, or at the least a piece of angle to clamp it in a vice. IMG_1145.JPG IMG_1146.JPG

20231231_101622.jpg Got this thing up and running again...The last time it had water coming out of the exhaust . The machine shop had sent it to another shop to have it pressure tested and they missed a crack in #6 cylinder. One sleeve and a bunch of hours later all is good. HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!

    lumpy,

I'm about the most ignorant of all hambers regarding 6-cylinder engines; especially ones with flat heads.

    What is this thing?

Hey Mike , its a 1953 Pontiac. It's going in a super rare 53 sedan delivery. If it was up to me I would have put a 400 Pontiac with a tri power in it:cool:

I adapted a Y block gear reduction starter to go on the V8 60. I had to turn down the diameter and relocate the mounting holes at 180* and then thin it for the correct engagement.

  19. must be a high comp motor to need a gear reduction, i personally prefer the separated solenoid starter ford uses most often

I'm working towards a mounting a T5 behind it and the adaptor bell housing blocks the stock starter.

  21. Care to post a few pictures of your SD? (There is a thread on here called "We Love Sedan Deliveries) I had a '53 Pontiac SD in the late '70s. Never did get it finished and on the road. Rare and cool, they are!

The car actually belongs to a customer at the shop, he took it home after the paint was done. I'll see if we have any pictures.

Finally started work on the 61 GMC last night. That’s how I stayed up to see midnight…. Goal is to have it going this spring and then try to drive it to Bonneville for Speed Week later in the year.

I'm supposed to be getting clarence back in the next two weeks. So, YES, we plan to be at the SK-500 IN CLARENCE!!!

The Price Towers has changed ownership and eliminated their $99/night rate for SK participants (we have stayed there several times). Therefore we reserved a cabin at the Osage Hills State Park, about 15 miles west of Bartlesville right off of US-60. In our old age we've decided that we've stayed in enough run-of-the-mill motels and prefer to stay in places that are more interesting or have more character.

I started to get serious with upgrading this old Chevy last August. Since then I completely rebuild the front end and add a stablizer bar, installed front disc brakes, replace the gas tank, added an electric pump, replaced all the brake and fuel lines, installed new wiring harness, rebuilt the dash cluster, added a Bluetooth Wonder Bar Radio and new clock. I pull the engine and rebuildt it. It's a 1962 327 that has never been bored. It is stock with Corvette valave covers and orignal Rams Horn manifold. I added the Cherry Bomb mufflers. Then I had the body shop remove all chrome, trim and glass. They did the body work, painted and installed all new or refurbished chrome and trim including all the gold badges then installed new green tint glass all around. Intalled new carpet, kick pads, dual rear radio antenna and I bought 2 sets of wheels. One I had painted Red where I'll run original hubcaps with spinners and the second set is black and I'll run baby moons. Still have lots to do like replace the headliner abd finish out the trunk. I did move the battery to the trunk and installed the orignal style rubber mat.
