The way I read it is that is for a weekend VIP pass. I'm sure a regular handicapped golf cart or scooter is not that price.

I want to go but charging admission to a swap meet is like charging admission to go to Walmart

What are the favourite things about Iola. We are on the other side of the planet , doing LA Roadster show ., BTTF then Calgary stampede . We had planned to fly out on July 7th . Do we hang around a few more days to take in Iola? Never have been to Iola ,are there HAMB friendly cars.?

The car show at Iola is OK but nothing special. The swap meet, however, is HUGE and full of great stuff, it really takes a couple days of walking if you want to see it all. If you guys want to shop for parts for old cars of any kind, including hot rod and custom car stuff, you will love the Iola swap meet. It's not as big as Hershey or Carlisle I don't think, but it's big enough that you could certainly compare the two. There's also a large "car corral" (area for complete/driveable old cars that are for sale) if you want to check that out.

I've been going to Iola every year since I was 12 and I never miss it.

I should also mention, in years past they've had some pretty cool special guests or displays, I got to look inside a GM Futurliner and I touched a Tucker, I also got to meet Henry Winkler (AKA the Fonz, super nice guy!) and I got to watch Gene Winfield chop a top, and on another occasion Gene actually stopped me with my cart and pulled out some moldings I had purchased earlier and talked me out of them. That was really cool, too.

I don't know who or what they'll have this year, sometimes that part is hit or miss. But the swap meet is huge and pretty cool if you like swap meets. (New Zealanders might call a swap meet an auto-jumble, if you're not familiar)

Like Squablow said, it's a great swap meet. Is it as big as it was 10 years ago..... no, but still a good meet. I have only missed 2 since my first one in 1978.

If you’re that close you may as well go. I have been going since 82 and I haven’t missed one yet.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Much appreciated. Yes we have one custom and a few hot rods.
Dont know anything about an Auto jumble ?? A swap meet is a swap meet. though we have some here that won’t permit any domestic stuff, just automotive related, though a little domestic stuff keeps the ladies wanting to go .
On the Iola website the car show sounds pretty organised. Am I right by not expecting to see a big bunch of HAMB friendly cars?
Some of the big swap meets here have gone downhill too . The gate guys it seems don’t care if you come to camp and drink beer, with no goodies to sell. They get their money. So you cover a lot of ground to see drunk campers .

There is a section of 30's, 40's cars, but most cars are 50's to 70's.

I could have sworn I'd heard that term used in your part of the world, but I could very easily be wrong.

Anyway, Iola does have some "domestic" stuff and is a bit watered down from what you may have seen 20 years ago, and there definitely are a few empty spots, or spots purchased in the swap meet but only used for parking. The organizers are trying to cut back on that but we'll see how well they do this year. Still, as far as swap meets go, it's a very good one, if you like that sort of thing, I don't think you'd be disappointed. The show is OK too, but it definitely caters to the restoration and muscle car crowd more.

    Prepare to be disappointed...
The organizers are under the impression that all campers, car sellers & show car exibitors will be registering via an online account.
How do you think that is going to go over? My suspicion is that they are clueless.

I went there for 28-30 years only missing 1 year for a local auction that was selling off garage equipment when they moved to a new building and got all new stuff. I was the biggest buyer at that auction so i figured it was a good reason to miss it that year. but then the lake house got sold and now i have missed iola the last 14 years now. I actually liked the little street rod show better they tried having that was the month after the iola old car show but it only lasted a few years and they stopped it. it was amazing how it grew over the years and how it changed from such a little show to buying up all the farm land around it. every year you could see it getting bigger. Use to enter and be in the car corral already but that grew so much that got moved to the other side of the road. Not sure what happened the last 14 years if it is still going strong or not. Only thing I really heard about iola was the car that was stolen out of the car corral last year or maybe that was 2022 show and it was found someplace in green bay, wi..

i was just poking around on the iola site and it now cost $20 to get a 1 day admission. Last time I was there I am pretty sure it cost us $15 for 2 of us making it $7.50 each. I know the group i went with at that time complained how the prices kept going up and they were about to call it quit. doesn't matter what event you go to but prices to enter are up and everything inside is more too. wonder what a chicken barbeque is now?

anyways not sure where the others got rental numbers but their site said you can rent golf carts from jimsgolfcarts at the event for $132 a day.
