The '32 Tudor I picked up late last fall has a FoMoCo branded Model 94 carburetor. It has a small weepy leak. Today's gas is no bueno for old gaskets and fuel lines. I'd like to have it rebuilt with modern ethanol laced gas complaint gaskets and go through the fuel system to make sure it's all compatible with today's fuel. I can't justify $4.50+/gal non-ethanol gas for a 5.5-6.5:1 221 flatty. It's like $35 bucks for compliant gaskets. Since it's leaky, I can kill two birds with one rebuild.

But I've never rebuilt or tuned a carb. All my previous stuff has been newer and EFI. Can gaskets be replaced without messing up the existing tune? How hard are these to tune? Reading up on them a bit, it seems they are pretty simple.

  2. I am assuming this is a Holley 94 that we are all familiar with. I have run dual Holley 94's on my '40 flathead for 23 years running with regular gas without any problems. Just used standard rebuild gasket kit.

I’m just guessing here, but I’m thinking that if you get a new kit from NAPA or some place that the gaskets in the kit are made from materials that would live with today’s gas. I have a ton of them that are rebuilt and none of them has ever leaked even with some of the NOS kits that dad and I picked up through the years.
