I set up my old Delco tach drive single point vacuum advance distributor the week before last...no machine, just used the timing light, it works pretty well now.

    This is a before picture.

Pulled the body off my 31 Tudor A to prep the frame for an 8BA, 39 trans, and 40 Banjo rear. Ran out of storage room on the shop floor for the body so now I have a 4 door 1962 Mack B-75. IMG_1180 (convert.io).jpg IMG_1183 (convert.io).jpg

So with the points wired together do you just set the gap and not worry about the dwell. I just set up a GM dual point tach drive with GM style points and it was wired the same way as yours which I found odd. But I only put one set of points back in it so not a big deal. All the ones I have set up in the past had individual lead wires .

I bought the black wheel in 2014 from a hamber and repaired it with some two-part epoxy putty from Amazon in 2015. ($50.00) I was lucky enough to find an original horn ring and had it re-chromed. and bought a new horn ring button for it along with the hardware to install it.(NOS) I recently bought the other wheel to repair and purchased a Lime Works horn ring and button. I plan on putting one on my 1950 Ford coupe and the other one in a display case, along with some other 1950 Ford stuff. I am currently repairing and painting both wheels. The horn button in the last picture will be for sale. Sorry, the wheels are not for sale.

292 inspection. Removing the air compressor.

Used a bore scope and cyls look great. Super clean on the inside. Clean behind the side covers and under the valve cover. Might just do a reseal if the comp numbers are good.
2 plugs had fouler tips. Guess I’ll look at valve stem seals then the guides.
The point mounting plate was loose and the advance disconnected

  25. Anthony, is that 292 out of a medium duty C-60 or 70? I’ve never seen a Chevy 6 from an air brake truck! That looks like one tall engine.

  26. C60 dump with air brakes. Compressor still pumps. First for me as well. But it’s factory. Cast 6 cyl only bracket and a special side cover with oil return. The pump is plumed into the oiling system.

    Whats it going in?

  28. My sons 61 Chevy c40 has my 350 in it. The 350 has a mild cam and 461 heads. Kinda doesn’t like lugged around in the big truck. The plan is to use the 350 in the wife’s 56 and put the 292 in the truck.
It was born with a 235 and I almost put a 261 in it. The 292 is cheaper and easier.
