I dislike those "g***er" front wheels as much as @moriarity does but I wish I was on the money making side of them.

I don't understand the usage of those wheels on the "g***ers". They are not that period correct. If you look at old A/G cars, many of them ran Cragar spokes or some other wheel.
I have to give kudos to @Moriarity though, His stuff is seriously period correct.

 

I think what happened is that when the retro "g***er" fad came in, about 20 years ago. lots of builders, both young and old, didn't get what the real deal was about. Along came a marketing genius and called the fake 10 spokes "g***er" wheels, and there you go.
I still wonder, when I see them, if the builder really didn't know, or they think we don't know.

 

All it takes is ONE... the rest will follow!!

 

I had a thought
What if those bolt on "spindle mount" wheels were banned from all forms of automotive use, where would they be useful..........hypothetically thinking of co****.

 

Or a hose reel, maybe...

 

Or, a '57......

 

Now, when it comes to 55's, I'm more of a two-ten guy but this photo of a one-fifty is pretty cool.

 

I don't know... she's looking at the missing stainless on the windshield and smirking 'No, not my next sugar daddy...'

 

I've scrolled past this one many times and thought it looked odd, maybe just the camera angle, decided to look into it, seems this guy thought GM should have continued the "utility sedan" look of the 53 in the 55's.

Just read the link. He may have gotten his dream however the curve of the 1/4 gl*** transition to door gl*** is terrible.

This is just an opinion so don't get upset but the bolt on 10 spoke wheels are the same as wire wheel hubcaps to me, trying to be something that they are not.

 

Fugly...Also , that wheel / tire combo is standard equipment a certain geographical region of the country.;-)
