You would be amazed at what some guys will do with something they really don't like, want or need, but bought because it was so cheap.

At least some of it was not scrapped.

If you are moving, or downsizing, and something has to go, but you can't find anyone that wants your project at any price, sometimes just having parts of it getting used for something, is better then scrapping it.

Twenty years ago we listed our house for sale. We were told the average selling time was around 3 months. The house sold in 7 days, and had to be closed in 30 days. I had a lot of good stuff there that had to be gone in those 30 days. I scrapped a lot of stuff. Had either, or both, the car and the truck been at my place at that time, the window for saving either would have been pretty short. Anyone willing to haul it away and use it (sold stuff at scrap price if I didn't have to deal with it) could do whatever they wanted to with it. There was not time to vet their intensions, too much stuff had to go.

Sometimes I wonder if some of you guys live in the real world.

Anyone notice they're both As? Okay different years, but left and right sides? And taking off on the Johnny Cash comment and the I can weld comment...

Okay then, so do I have to spell it out? And I can picture cutting 2 engines in half and combining them also.

Yes, my meds are wearing off!

  9. Divorce , she insisted on half of everything  . Beside that , if the guy who cut it all up did it well he would have four halves at a asking price of $ 5000 each.

  10. Take half as long to build.

Do you guys remember the '67 Chevy Impala that Gene Winfield built for a commercial that split a bit off center when it went down the road?

Probably leftovers from somebody’s projects that got turned into wall art. How many nice front clips have you seen mounted to the side or front of a building? Or the rear section, looking like a car drove through a wall?
It’s just rusty metal, nothing really valuable like a Duesenberg or Auburn. Most expensive piece I see is the truck cab and door.
I’d rather see something fixed up like this than sent to a crusher….

One of those "Steampunk" geeks. Look at some of the other crap in the background of the photos.

That just looks like a next project starter kit to me. A pretty useful vehicle could emerge: Haul an engine, Maw, Junior and yourself all in one! I think it would be better if the opposite sides married up instead, that way you could slide the driver's seat back a bit and gain some leg room, but nothin's perfect.

At least you don't have to match your first side modifications with a matching other side.....talking to custom guys...First side is the easiest, and the most fun. 2nd side is a pain.
If I only had to do one side, all my shit would be finished....

  20. What's the big deal? Not like that stuff is rare. At least it's being used instead of hiding in someone's "stash" till they die

Only 2 rusty front fenders were sacrificed and one was a less than desirable fender well one.

Maybe the guy is on the HAMB. The frame rotted out and the front and rear suspension, dash, and everything in the interior was stripped off years ago. The flathead was locked up because the plugs all removed while it was sitting outside.
A frame swap isn't acceptable, a tree crushed the center of the roof and trunk lid, the bottom of the rockers and the bottom of the hood are also rotted out. Not many looking for the few 46-48 Plymouth club coupe parts still there, what else could he do?
