Hi. Just picked this sweet fc that runs and drives. It has a 250 with a rebuilt th350 and a bronco 8.8 rear end.. The old owner is an80 yo transmission shop owner..he and his brother worked on the truck, got it running and let it sit after his stroke.. The thing started right up after sitting for 2 years.. Brakes work and it drives around but the 350 feels a little sluggish.. I saw some cables not hooked up so I need you guys to walk me through hooking anything and everything I need to get it to shift better.. I will be posting pics of the trans and carburetor so you could point me to the right direction. Thanks in advance.
Quite the fleet you have there Seth! Love the FC. TH350 only needs a shifter, kickdown cable and a vacuum line to operate.....But yeah, post some pics!
Thanks Scott. I've been reading threads where people just don't use the lockdown cable . And yeah it's not hooked up but the vacuum is
A forward Control used to come to plow our drive when it snowed too deep to shovel. I'd wait outside till he came. The driver would let me inside the cab so I could watch what he was doing. That driver was non other then Art Clark! Some of you Round de Round Guys Might Recognize that name! Is yours the 4 wheel drive version?
It was,the PO wanted a 2wd so he swapped the rear axle to a bronco 8.8 ,250 inline 6,th350 and he just left the front axle unhooked...
Shortened my frame...haha ..if I cut 10 more inches,I wouldn't have a driveshaft...I have to raise the box in the back and add a couple of filler panels in between...fix the taillights, add two bumpers..one infront and one in the rear
It looks cool but I think you should have left it the stock length and mounted a portable welder between the cab and bed .
I know this is a heavy box but the 250 and th350 should be able to push it up the street ok BUT its very sluggish... Is the th400 a better option?
According to Google.. It's a 9" from 1980s f150 with 3.50 gears. And thank you.. did you check that link of the 7' service body?? It's been alive just barely...carb had a bunch of shit in it,cleaned the sparkplugs and it's running better just S L O W. How do I check for slipping trans?? It shifts ok downhill or flat road but with the tiniest uphill it won't get out of its own way...I'll check the brakes again..
Thank you , I did view the service body . I just couldn’t determine where it was located . Have you checked for stopped exhaust system ? Also advance system on engine ign system ? What you have should pull that as will as any GM pickup equally equipped . The truck s cool as it gets .
Man,almost 2 years of owning this thing,a new to me 250(the one that came with it turned out to be a 194) lots of sweat literally blood and some tears,it's running a lot better.. I hope to enjoy it more around town . Its been registered and insured all this time but barely driven.. Had a stuck passenger drum brake, barely running 194 etc...finally a win!
