“Looking at the world through rose colored glasses?” Hello, In this case, it was not rose colored glasses, but an outdoor UV orange tinted filter on a 50mm 1.4 lens using Ektachrome color slide film. The black tank had a pearl finish mixed into the black paint. The bronze flames were outlined with gold pinstriping for a subtle look. A different style springer fork set up and the ever popular hi-rise handlebars made the seating with in reachable status. But, for show, and not comfort, those upswept pipes did not make the passenger seat person happy with the noise and stuff shooting out when it did. Water, moisture, stuff that gets dropped in by accident, etc. Despite all of that, it still had a cool stance and unusual motor. Jnaki Wow, a nice bike, but my wife said the upswept pipes would be the first to go. But, the laid back style was fine with her if we owned this custom bike. But the noise and constant exhaust noise + stuff certainly would be bothersome, let alone, hot. Not cool version of “hot.” But hot to the touch or being nearby as the passenger would be in the seating area. YRMV The photo was taken at an old Oakland Roadster Show set up day (Thursday) in the 60s.
'Ballarat Time Trial' - April 7, 1947; George Thomas photos, State Library of Victoria; this rider (same race number and same helmet) was hard at it. It's a Velocette but does anyone know what model? [Edit: it might be a circa 1935 MOV 250, stripped down for racing]
My guess is a Velocette Kss 350 or a Ktt 350, that one had a alloy head and lookin at the photo it could be alu They were racing the Isle of man TT race with those machines and looks very much alike. I think the cylinder looks to skinny for a 500cc

@Sky Six Hello, In the motorcycle section of the So Cal Lion’s Dragstrip Museum, this dual Triumph Drag Bike may have been the one in my film from back in 1959-60. The Twin Triumph Bike was fast, but when he went up against Ed Losinski’s aluminum body FED with Jack Chrisman driving, there was no doubt as to the outcome. Jnaki If there was a doubt as to the race, watch Jack Chrisman turn to look around at the missing dual Triumph motorcycle. But, continues to blast away and win the race. Power and quickness wins again. YRMV Jack Chrisman driving Ed Losinski's FED
'1939 DKW 250cc supercharged and water cooled' - 1940 photo by Charles Daniel Pratt; State Library of Victoria. This would have been pretty exotic in Oz in 1940. https://www.pressreader.com/australia/old-bike-australasia/20160303/282982514041021
I'm not really a motorcycle guy, but after going to Sturgis with a couple of friends a few years ago, it re- kindled the motorcycle embers. Fast forward to the current time, I did a nut and bolt "restoration" ( with some improvements) of a 1948 Indian Chief. Stroked the motor to 80 c.i., electronic ingnition, synchronized four speed trans, and a Harley CV carb, black frame, Packard blue metal finished sheet metal. Tom
