You guys have any tips for keeping the oil off the headers while adjusting roller rockers on a 331 HEMI. I was thinking about bolting a piece of 1 x 1 angle iron to the rocker cover area. What do you guys do?

  2. Cutting the top out of a valve cover is my suggestion. I only ran hemi's in race cars. The oil ran onto the headers and we washed everything down with solvent before firing. If you find an older video of most of the top fuel racers, you will see that was very common.

Thanks....I'll keep my eyes open for a set.

  4. Kind of Pricey to cut up Valve covers.. Unless they already damaged and $30 for the set.

Good usable ones sell/ask for $250 and up

adjust the rockers with the engine not running? That's how I always do it, not very much oil mess.

I don't see any reason to adjust the rockers While it's running unless, you're trying to find valve train noise or something I guess.

  7. You don't adjust valves on a hemi when running. :)

There should not be that much oil on the top of an EarlyHemi.
What have you done to increase the oil flow?
