With the issues you are running into I have to ask. Are you sure your 3 window is Brookville stuff? Because there were some 3 window body panels stamped about 10-15 years ago and the stampings were bad. I think they were done by a company called Streamline. I know they got the stampings done and when they tried to assemble the bodies everything was way off. That company went belly up but alot of those panels have been popping up since. I just seen a few months ago a guy trying to sell a bunch of it on marketplace. Also if the company that Brookville used to do their door stamping was "Experi-Metal" You can pretty much forget ever getting doors from them unless Kenny finds another place to do his stampings because Experi-Metal was sold to a very rich lady who took that business to another level and they just don't have the time to mess with hot rod stuff anymore.

Yes. The body is Brookville. I picked all the pieces up personally at their place in Brookville Ohio. Kenny was my salesman and put the list of pieces I need to assemble the body.

That is very bad news about the doors I need. But I believe one place stamped out the inner door skins and another company stamped out the outer skins. I hope he gets his dies and finds another place to press them out soon.

thanks for the information. I appreciate it.

It might come to that. Kenny had no doors in sight. I’m loosing confidence in brookville. I wish UP made 3-windows. They have their shit together.
    Are those doors on marketplace?

Brookville having the doors ( ie complete, assembled) is perhaps a different question to them having the components / pressings, no? Might be worth asking the question. Assembly of the bodies was always the limiting factor / pinch point, and flat packed availability was never a concern. Maybe, just maybe, doors follow a similar pattern?

  6. Ask if they have skins and frames.

I wanted the doors separated from brookville because I will add an x-brace inside them. They have inner skins but Kenny won’t sell any to me. No outer skins as they can’t get them stamped out

Tell him if he has the outer skin die all ya need is some hammers and clamps and you’ll pound out a skin

Ouch! $7K for a pair of beaten up doors? They're priced like they're not making them any more, but currently they're not making them any more........ awkward.

$7000 is insane until they are the only ones available. Then priceless. If brookville doesn’t have doors in 6 months, that’s the route I’ll be going.
    Thanks guys for the link.

Might as well start with a flat sheet of steel. Nothing is the same between sedan doors and three-window doors.

I wonder how much a tin knocker like Moel would charge to fab up a pair

Kenny is going to have to get these 3-window doors stamped out. He has 18 coupes right now waiting on doors.

Well that's encouraging, kinda! I expect he's working hard to resolve it. 18 x $25k retail is quite a sum to have tied up! Some of us will be concerned about the prospect of spares availability should the need arise. Hope its all resolved soon.

My insider at Brookville retired so information is harder to get. For a while they were unable to get the grade of mild steel they need for stamping. I have a customer waiting on front fenders for several months. One a high note, when my body shop was taking my 3 window for a test drive and they forgot to engage the safety pins and the door flew open at 80 + he fixed it with Brookville skin and it fit the original door frame and hole in the body perfect.

Wonder if fiberglass doors would fit ? Sell them later if the steel ones become available shortly. Fabing a door from scratch would take a fair amount or talent and tooling.

If you had a body and just needed doors, glass would be fine. But since this body is being assembled and needs the doors for fitment, I think it would be a bad idea. I would want to assemble the body with the doors I plan to use.

I agree, but he can't get them any time soon. I have no real doubt that Kenny at Brookville will eventually work the problem out if its humanly possible, but if its true that the company that was stamping the doors went out of business and his dies are tied up to the point that it may take legal action to get them back........much less get production going again with a new company...........what choices are there?

Comparing 5-window doors is futile. The price difference is probably 3 times. But those 5-window doors were overpriced 15 years ago.

The best thing to happen for the 5- window is United Pacific started reproducing them. The bodies and parts are easy to get. I only wish brookville was like them.

I will have to continue the build without doors as they are probably a year or more away.
