There is quite a lot of talk about pressure plate bolts on the Ford Barn. This is a particularly interesting thread https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=308483 I'm sure ARP would be a good source. Just remember grade 8 and shoulder.
I googled 'ford flathead v8 pressure plate bolts'

Thanks for the input. From my research, it looks like these are the correct bolts?

Back from Idaho and back in action. When I was in Hailey, Idaho, I saw a 1932 Ford five-window parked in a driveway—in the snow! I couldn't believe it. If I recall correctly, the car had black steelies, no fenders, and lettering on the doors. We were on our way to hockey, so I wasn't able to snap a picture. If anyone knows the owner, I'd love to hear from them.

My flight got in at three, and by 4:30 I was out in the driveway spraying paint.

The pan is almost completely painted now, and the tie rod will get a few more coats next time the sun comes out. (And don't worry, I made sure there weren't any dents that would interfere with the crank this time.)

Should work, the Green Bible lists them as being 5/16- 18 thread, 25/64" long, but I'd double check diameter, length and thread with ARP before ordering as they don't list the length of them. A hair short shouldn't hurt anything, a little long shouldn't either as long as they don't hit the oil pump drive cover on the back of the block. And it's easy to shorten them...

The Speedway ad says the ARP pressure plate bolts are .780" long (under the head), which is about 25/32". Perhaps the 25/64" cited earlier is a misprint? That works out to only .390", or a little over 3/8" long.

I bet our European friends must think we're nuts with our funny old English units of measure!

Thanks, Joey! One piece at a time! I’m feeling particularly fired up this year. Can’t wait to have this one on the road. P.S. I loved the 2023 Christmas card—it’s on display on our mantle.

Interesting! Since I still have the originals, I’ll compare them and report back.

No pictures, but I did order the ARP bolts this afternoon. I also spoke with the folks at the driveshaft shop and they said they’d be shortening and balancing mine tomorrow. Exciting stuff!

Great stuff, Joey! Did you have Driveline Service Santa Rosa do the work for you? I'm at the point I need to get my driveline fabbed up so I can figure out my radius rod mounts.

Yes! I read about them in a Vern Tardel book—they’ve been great so far. I shipped the driveshaft up there in a cut-up banana box. They work quickly too.

I think it might be a misprint; I checked the listed Ford part number for those bolts in the "Numerical list of special bolts, pins, washers, etc." in the back of the Green Bible and in that section it lists them as being .77" long.

As soon as I got home from work today, I sprayed a little bit of paint. Both the tie rod and oil pan still need more; I'll get to it next time the sun is out. IMG_0235.jpg
It was a great mail day at the Terrace. I got my dash as well as some new reading material from Vern Tardel.
    IMG_0247.jpg
And I had to break out the instrument panel.

That's the best. Years ago, I lived in a cul-de-sac with a bunch of cool neighbors...me - a single guy in his '20s - and three families married with little kids. I'm sure I'll never find another group of neighbors like them, we were out chatting several nights a week when the weather was nice. We'd look out for each other, babysit when necessary, you name it.

With three cars and a motorcycle to mess with, I had many a job interrupted or delayed by chatting or showing one of the kids what I was doing. I wouldn't trade those memories away for anything. We all keep in touch and invite each other to milestones, but it's sad I'll likely never have a little community like that again.

I guess bucket drumming is one way to pay for parts...

We have some good updates for tonight, and other fun things in the works for tomorrow. Things are looking pretty busy on the Terrace tonight, but I'll try to assemble a post before bed. We'll see!

Hey Joey, Sorry to hear you'll take a hiatus from the GNRS this year. Will see you 2025?
Anyhow, a great source for your grade 8 shouldered bolts is in Santa Fe Springs, CA.
Great online catalog, they have it all. Look up McMaster-Carr. Reasonable pricing and they ship even the smallest order. Happy hunting.

    Hey @J.Ukrop
What's the back story on the cool retro abstract painting on the wall?
Was it a score from some cool rummage sale in the neighborhood?
Or was it something that you actually created?
Inquiring fellow artistic minds would like to know!
That dash and the gauges are cool !

Great pic, Joey! I love that building. I wrote a book report on that building when I was in Junior High School. Focused on FLW, but really on the Civic Center, which if I remember correctly is one of his only "commercial" building on the left coast???

Thank you so much! All we can do now is keep on chipping away!

    Let's goooo

Such great memories of a special era. Over the weekend, my neighbor's two-year-old pointed to my roadster and said "Joey's car!" That brought the biggest smile to my face.

You most certainly will see me in 2025—maybe even with a car of mine. I will have some of my work accompanying one of the roadsters in Building Four, but I'll share more on that later in the week. Thanks for the tip on McMaster-Carr. I love looking through all their specialty hardware.

Hey! That is an original of mine. It's called "This is the City Part II." I painted it a few years ago and gifted it to my roommate. It was somewhat inspired by an original abstract expressionist work I have in my collection.
