Dis they have a mcculloch supercharger next to it for $50.00? Lol I wasn't buying parts back then but that probably was a lot for one back then.
I have one as well. Original with no number just*****ched up from use. Smoother finish just a rougher casting that i've seen. I think its a earlier one. I've heard 100 made but i've also heard 250
Hot Rod mag did a intake manifold shoot out using a big inch Flatmotor base and the Edelbrock slingshot performed quite well. It was 18 h.p. higher than the gorgeous hi rise Thickstun(the hi rise Thickstun was a very poor performer. My Henry 1932 cabriolet hiboy runs 80mph in the 1/8 mile drags using the Slingshot!
Flatheadjohn47, Could you please post a picture of your throttle linkage. I’ve been working on my setup and trying to use an original throttle linkage. Any pictures would help. Regards Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I know, old thread, but that looks like a progressive linkage you're using. Does the slingshot 'stack' blend the carb inputs into a single plane?
I purchased the air cleaner of someone from this site. It had no markings and looked to be an early 50’s casting that was not finished. I had to do some fabrication to get it to work for my application. I have seen them with Eddy Meyer and other logos on them and at one point the Early Ford Store had reproductions for sale. I am not sure if they are still available. O’Brien Truckers also has a similar version but it looks like it is set up for a single 4 barrel. https://www.obrientruckers.com/air-cleaner-teardrop-finned-with-external-element.html Hope this helps you.
Looking for info on where to pull vacuum from for a crab style distributor. Found this thread so here’s a pic of mine. It appears there is a small npt hole up front into a runner as well as a larger (maybe pipe thread, haven’t checked threads yet) hole into a rear runner. Wondering if the front hole could work for the distributor and rear hole for wipers/vac gauge?
Wouldn't you need venturi vacuum instead? I just pulled a gallon sized vacuum canister off my '48 Ford firewall that was fed by a 3/8 tube coming off the base of the carb. The vacuum for the distributor was pulled from a banjo fitting that had the afore mentioned tube running through it.
Well I actually drove on one for 2 years going to HS , 1969 1970 on a basically stock 1945 Ford PU. Dual exhaust and a pair of 97's. What I remember was it was miserable to warm up in the morning because the long run of aluminum. But not as bad as the previous no-name dual high rise manifold I ran. No air cleaners. And this was in So Cal. Probably would have helped had I had some thermostats in the cooling system. Paid $25 for it in 1969 at a Model T Club swap meet. Sold it for $125 in 1974, including the Pep Boys rebuilt 97's. No manifold numbers or such, just a manifold. But then I also sold a rusty roadster pu for $300 at the same time. Been caught in a forest fire.
