Event Coverage Salt Lake City

So…some of you guys know I get to travel for work some and my next trip is to Salt Lake City for some training next week. I’ll be there Tuesday evening through Friday morning. Any cool HAMB-friendly suggestions to check out in my free evenings? I was there a couple years ago for Speed Week, but haven’t ever really explored the area much.

Not much happening this time of year. I get my car fix by either walking out in the garage or going to a couple car/bike themed restaurants. The Garage or Strap Tank Brewery.

 

I lìved in the SLC area for a couple of years. Even in the best of times, it's pretty slim pickins' there. Your best bet would be to contact Mikey Ellis, lurker mick on the hamb. He is a member of the Stags car club a long established club in Utah.

 

You do know how to piss a guy off with envy sometimes but then again you do need. all the training you can get. Go check out Kindigit's shop or whatever it is. Have fun be careful.

You could ask Kevin at Kindig-It Design for a shop tour, just don't expect any kind of meaningful conversation, I know, I know, it's just an act.
Dave is cool, he just looks funny!

 

Too bad OP is there only during the week. To tour Kindigit, one must have a $5 reservation Friday 9-5 only and they're full through March now.

Thanks for all the ideas guys. I did think of Kindigit but apparently I won’t be touring there since not there on Friday. And, strangely enough some have told me I remind them of Dave so I must look funny too. LOL

4. We took a tour of Temple Square in SLC once, it was really interesting (I'm an architecture junkie).

 

Well , this isn’t car related, but it is train related…..North of SLC a ways is where the Western railroad and the Eastern railroad met! We visited it….years ago….and it was very interesting, but they did put on the dog for us, had about a 100 WWII vets there.
But if you find nothing else, a road trip could be in order!

Maybe go check out Diesel Brothers shop ? I know it’s not HAMB friendly but they do build cool stuff . Not sure how far away from where You’ll be at

 

A few minutes south down I-15 and just off the freeway in Springville is the Legends Motorcycle museum. It’s a nice combination restaurant/museum mainly devoted to motorcycles, but it has some pre-wwii cars and stuff. I enjoyed it a lot. https://legendsmotorco.com/pages/legends-motorcycles-museum

 

That motorcycle museum looks pretty cool. Reminds me a little of one that I have been to multiple times near me on Route 66. And, restaurant recommendations are also always welcome. Thanks again guys!

 

Take a side trip to Ogden - check out the Browning museum. Prototypes of every firearm patent John Browning sold to Winchester from 1885 - 1900. Next door is a railroad museum if it's still open ...

 

It's a couple hour drive, but if I was that close I'd drive out to the Bonneville salt flats just to look at it.

 

B vile is only about 100 miles away.

 

Last time I was there it was under water during Speed Week.

 

I'll message you my number. There may not be a lot of hot rod stuff going on but at least I could take you out to a decent local spot for dinner.

If you are in the Rolling Bones Circus for speed week it only takes about an hour and 10 min to get there! we were rolling down 80!!!

 

Not H.A.M.B. friendly but the Landcruiser Heritage Museum is worth checking out.

If you like Sushi, Sapa has some of the best Sushi I've had in a while, which considering how far from the ocean they are is saying something.

Red Iguana has really good Mexican food and a few very distinctive Mole flavors to try.

 

I just got back from SLC (yesterday evening). I was there since Monday morning and it was a pretty dull trip. The next time I go back up there I'll try some of these suggestions, the motorcycle museum sounds interesting.
When I was in SLC the week before Speedweek I drove out to have a look....yup...it was all underwater....but still interesting to see

 

Well, I didn’t end up with as much time as I hoped I might have between the training and then catching up on my regular job in the evenings.

But, I did make it to Jeremiah’s for dinner tonight and it was worth the short trip to get there. I am staying in Farmington which is near Ogden so the drive was easy. Thanks for the recommendation!

Anyway, figured I needed to follow up here after asking for stuff to do that I didn’t actually have time to do…

I'll try Jeramiahs the next time I'm there (probably in about 6 weeks). When I'm out there I range anywhere from Logan to Provo.
If the big wigs at my job had there way Id be out there once a month...ugh.
