Projects Dixie gets a pacemaker

Love the swap. My 235 wasn't cooperating in my 62 Bel Air so I went to a 350/TH350. I loved the six but the SBC made it a way nicer cruiser.

 

I have been following along as I get ready to swap the engine in my 51. I have been told that t******* the support braces on the fire wall allows the engine to set back farther. In the photo below, it looks like you did not trim yours. In doing the calculations on my car, it looks like a small block would fit without t*******, but clearances would be tight. In reading your struggle (which I'm sure you will overcome), it seems they might be too tight. Good luck with getting it back far enough to clear. Please keep posting the progress. If you get it to fit without t*******, will you have enough room for an AC condenser and a 4 core radiator with a regular fan?

 

I'll post some closeups of how we trimmed the firewall.

 

We cut part of the firewall bracing to accommodate removal of the valve covers. We also added some bracing to keep the support intact.

 

Headed north early today to attend the Groundhog Gala in Sanford, FL. Stopped in Clermont and met up with Steve Caszeyka and had some pinstriping done. Love his work!
