I like the blue wheels and the black tire sidewalls. Good idea to pass on the Port-a-walls, they sucked back in the 70s, and I doubt they have improved.

Looks like its shaping up to be a good shop truck.

We put gun racks in all are pickups.

  6. I don't want to contradict you, but.....Ya needs whitewalls! The tire & wheel get lost in the darkness of the wheel well and shadow of the fender. Unless of course, you are gonna buff the existing paint to high shine, in which case I'll give you a pass on the blackwalls.
    Carry on...

I think it would look way better with white walls.

Coming together well, this truck's going to be on the road soon I'm sure. Looking forward to the door art!

  9. I agree! I wish I lived closer & was blessed with more time....I would love to help with the door art. The name is PERFECT by the way

I am kind of in the middle as far as whitewall/blackwall debate. I would never use the porta-walls (now that I know what they are:p) , but an 1 1/2 or 2 inch whitewall looks great with painted wheels. Blackwalls give it a meaner look though. These were 1 & 3/4 or 2 inch on my 56.

    God Bless
    Bill

Hi Lloyd, got mine out of Wyoming 30yrs ago...and of course, it had a gun rack in it, too. Left it there
and it freaks some people out when they see it..pretty funny...liking the blue..Bob

  17. The 'blue' wheels are showing up as purple on my desktop   .......
.......but that seems to happen a lot with Royal Blue paints viewed online for some reason so I'll cut you some slack.
However, since my favorite color is plaid, I'm not allowed to vote either way on the whitewall question.

The truck is looking good. Stick with the blackwalls. When I was building my truck, someone said to me "you don't want to look like a city boy lost in the countryside!"

I have don't have a gun rack but the next best thing in my coupe.... bat.jpg

Hell, I got a gun rack in the back window of my ot 75 vette. But it does have a very on topic 65 vette 300 hp 327 and Muncie m20. Does that make me 1/2 cool?

Is that the same grill as the 55-1 as they were called?

I'm also partial to the 54/55 grill since one of my best friends in high school drove a cool 54 as his daily...low, dark blue, 5 spokes...

Yes, in 54 they changed the front end as well as one piece windshield, different dash and flat bead side rails.
54 still had the closed driveshaft. 55 got the open driveshaft, that is how I tell the year difference in the two years.
I'm sure there could be other difference but I'm a simple person and not into all the details.
