    Skimmed through all 37 pages…fantastic, built/scrounging thread!
    Didn’t see any mention of the windshield frame…is is a SoCal item?
    If so, sure looks way better, in grunge/patina, as opposed to shiny!
    More detail on your patina matching tricks would be appreciated.

    Thank you, this thread has been a good way to keep my progress and photos in one location, I would have lost a lot of photos without it. I have enjoyed the process.

    The windshield frame is an older SoCal, and it was a partial trade for a grille. The windshield saved me a bunch of work with the rust holes the upper cowl had. Some of the shaping was beyond my skill level at the time, and this frame allowed me to avoid making the tapered swage the cowl has stock. I like that it is something different in it's raw finish.

    The paint blending has been a combination of you tube research and experiments with paint and textures to blend the paint as best I can.

    The dual exhaust is all welded up and ceramic coated. I'm waiting on some brake parts to arrive, and I'll get it stopping soon. 20231217_101059.jpg

    20240126_131405.jpg 20240126_131338.jpg 20240121_101319.jpg 20231230_181301.jpg 20231201_202202.jpg Today I spent some time painting the rear end, flushing the new brake lines and installing the shortened drive shaft, and a replacement fuel tank I bought at a recent swap meet. The speedo drive functions, so I did OK measuring the drive shaft length... The fuel tank appears clean inside and holds fuel. The brake shoes and handbrake levers are installed. Once the rear end is completely installed, I'll bleed the brakes. I'm getting close to a test drive... Lots of small things on my "to do list". Floors will go back in once the brakes are sorted and once I've re-connected the clutch linkage.

    That cap was given to me locally, with another one that had been chromed. The holes in the one you pointed out has vintage kitchen cabinet breather caps all around. It has the gentle man's full name, "return to Robert Smith" and a two digit area code for the switch board phone connection on the back side of it. It's not in the best condition, but is interesting.

    Is that copper tubing for the brake lines? It is not a recommended tubing to use on brakes.

    It is "copper Nickel", and is fine for brake lines. Thanks for your concern.

    I just found your thread and went through all the pages. Great build! It is awesome that you have managed to save huge amount of old parts and passed them to the fellow hot rodders!

    Last Thursday night I rolled the roadster into the garage for the first time to finish it off in comfort. Wiring has been started, and I have a decent size list.     It has been a while, here are some progress photos. I installed a "powergen" 12v alternator this week, and have been working on an f1 steering box installation, as my maiden drive didnt go real well with the original steering box I had, haha! Worn out and pitted gears makes turning interesting to say the least.
