I've been in that Grant's countless times, fortunately most of the patrons were not so dour as those pictured, maybe they were tired of pushing the strollers. As always thanks for rekindling some memories Hemidav.
@Ron Funkhouser Hello, Nice old photo selected. Brings back a ton of memories. Several months ago, I posted a similar photo of a guy walking in front of a Ford Sedan Delivery at San Onofre Surf Club parking lot in So Cal during the early 1960 time period. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/vintage-surf-transportation.326942/page-14#post-14983368 The photo shows a 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery and a teen walking around in what looks like Everlast brand Boxing shorts. (Red arrow) My brother was the only teenager in So Cal or anywhere else, to wear a set of Everlast Boxing Shorts as surf trunks. HA! Jnaki San Onofre back during this time period for So Cal was a private beach loaned to them by the U.S. Marine Corp which surrounds the whole beachfront. It was a private beach with access only through the most northern gate to the massive Camp Pendleton base. A classic club sticker or know someone in the club were the two ways to get into the relaxing compound. Three friends had stickers... The third way was to be a military person with a registration card. We had that covered with two of our friends families, recently out of the military service at the time. The waves were fun and consistent, so it was more of a relaxing place to kick back and not worry about anything… ha! Just our kind of place. So, now, despite the distraction in the foreground, it must have been much later during the day, as the teens are now sitting on the sand talking… But, the sedan delivery is still in the same location with the rear door open. It was probably me taking a quiet nap in the cool, (pun intended) back cave area. YRMV
