History First Year for Kurtis Quarter Midgets

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by northwestautocraft, Jan 31, 2024.

  1. I read on the H.A.M.B that a fellow named Dean drove the #1 Kurtis Kraft 1/4 midget and that is was a prototype. I noticed it was serial number 433. I am at a bit of a quandary, as I purchased a car from a noted collector that represented it as a 1955 Kurtis Kraft. It certainly looks like one, however the serial number is 60- 411. Can anyone shed any light on this??

    Best regards

According to the book Kurtis Kraft by Gordon Eliot White, frank Kurtis produced his first quarter midgets in 1952. He sold more than 1,100 of the them either built in his own shop or by others under license. Prices started at $587.00 complete. I know of no records of serial numbers like those kept on the full size midgets. wood n one.
