Been digging through the attic for stuff to bring to the swap meet. Ran across these bitchin lamps that I moved up there when I 86’d the furniture out of my family room to make room for another car. I cleaned them up and they are so cool that I just can’t sell them, so I moved them to the other garage...
Those shades are primo baby! Seriously, those are great, wife and I would snap those up if we saw them at a shop for sale. Problem is we’re running out of room to use our finds. Wouldn’t be surprised if we buy another old rental in the future to display some things.
I got these at an estate sale this weekend, a repro (I assume) Pierce arrow sign, nicely mounted, 2 race prints, a sign from a dealership, 120 issues of Automobile Quarterly, a GM poster and a cool trophy from the 2019 St. Michael's Concourse D'Elegance in the shape of a surrealistic late 30s coupe.
Two brothers up the road sold their Mom's place and today was the last day of garage & basement clean out. Got a pair of Bear front end alignment plates and the wide fixture they fit in, some straight six rings from Hastings and a box of crap wrenches. On the way out one asked if I wanted the box of hardwood scraps 12 -18 inches long. Best part of the clean out, fed the wood stove for almost a half day.
@Squablow , I couldn't find a single reference to DeGrendele Motors doing a Google search, but I did find the Kirkwood, Mo historical society. I sent them a message, asking if they had any info on the company, but I haven't heard back from them yet.
Picked up a pair of these Holley 92s. These were the Ford Service Replacement carbs for the '39-'40 V8-60 that replaced the Stromberg 81s used on the V8-60 from '37-'38). These have the AA-7/8 bases and are often mistaken as 94s. Pretty rare finds and they will look great on my original Burns dual carb intake. Also, just picked up a '30s-40s Piper Cub SW tach (3500 rpm) for my Banger build. It's a '29 Coupe body with the windshield and doors chopped off, Brooklands windscreens, '35 wires with 6.50s all around and running on a '31 chassis. Metal work, interior bracing, and body mounting to begin when we thaw out here in CO. If any body has some old pre-war bucket seats, that would be great. Love bombers, but for my build, they weren't produced yet. Vintage airplane seats from the 30s would be awesome.
Not a pick, not a buy but I got this from @Okie Pete... I was working on reinforcing the bumper on my jeep FC when the mailman walked to the garage and handed me a box. I opened it and I started chuckling because the little dude looks like me with welding cap and all... I love it my GF saw it and thought it was so cool with the eyes that move and the little welding cap... Thanks again @Okie Pete... I'm going to hang it in on me of my CoEs..it deserves to be seen.
yes I did, I used some fluorescent orange testors model paint on it and it was too bright, I ended up mixing some regular orange and fluorescent together and now it looks right, I also made a fixture to hold the gauge while I removed and installed the bezel and that worked out really well.
Made a deal to get this at least a month ago but just brought it home today, a friend of mine had it almost 40 years, from a local service station.
Stuff I already had finds. Sold and engine and trans and kept the pieces I wanted Old off brand shifter and a gen set up for a SBF a 49 merc bumper I either forgot about or didn’t know I had and some spotlights when I cleaned out the trunk of my old work car
That would clean up nice. Should you decide to take it apart be careful with all the white numbers. They might just wipe away at the slightest touch. I use cottonbud sticks between the numbers and letters.
I don’t know. I took the picture at the place I found it. This particular booth had a ton of cool stuff, so was a little overwhelmed honestly. I don’t remember paying attention to it while there, I mostly focused on automotive parts. I googled tv lamp and didn’t find much. Do you have an example of one?
Well, one thing my wife and I have in common is a love of old things! We go out all the time on “dates” to resale shops, thrift stores, antique malls. Eventually you run into something you want and the price is right. If I was rich I’d be up to my elbows in stuff. I only buy cheaper small things I can decorate with or display. I can’t see buying it , then throwing it in a pile somewhere.
A TV lamp was a gimmicky thing from the 50's, a lamp you'd put on top of your TV set to add some ambient light to the background, I think they claimed it would reduce eye strain. Was a bullshit theory, but most of the designs were really cool. I've got a couple, the green dish looking thing below the TV in my bedroom is a TV lamp, this one was meant to have little fake plants in it but mine's empty. The seahorse looking thing on the living room TV is another one. Grainy pics but it's all I have at the moment.
Ahhh. Yeah, I’ve never seen , or at least noticed those. Cool! I did see an identical set of rabbit ears like in your living room picture.
