Technical It’s a Mystery?… Hurst 3speed Shifter

Found this Vintage Hurst Mystery shifter in my garage but can’t recall what it fits.
The Hurst numbers are clear
Body # M/S 193755
Longer of 2 rods is stamped R2002
The shorter is P (or a bad R) 2001
It takes the Compression Nut type handle (long gone) but easy to improvise.
It has been sand blasted and has a homemade trans mount.
Your help is very much appreciated.

 

It could be a Ford out of a 65 GTO. This was told to me years ago.

Found this on the web.
The transmission offerings were revised in 1965. The Muncie 3-speed manual was replaced with a Ford-built Dearborn Toploader 3-speed. This transmission is the strongest manual transmission ever put in a GTO and required a new transmission bellhousing to mount it. This transmission lineup continued unchanged through 1966.

 

Thanks for the suggestion.., I’ve looked at other 65 Pontiac Hurst 3speed shifters and there’s a definite similarity.
I have some old Hurst catalogs (somewhere) and would like to confirm the shifter and rod’s part numbers and their applications.
Too bad vintage Hurst part numbers are not posted on the ‘net’ somewhere.

The homemade mounting bracket looks pretty close to the Hurst bracket I have for 1949-62 Ford.

 

i'm thinking home modified to go on a trans it wasn't designed for.

that threaded piece that the handle screws on to is the real id peace though. that pushes the used on an oem application.

 

I've had several aftermarket Mystery shifters that had that setup for retaining the handle. It allowed you to cut the handle off if you wanted it shorter.

 

The rods are pretty short 10” and 7” (approx).
Does that seem long enough for the 49-62 trans?
