Hey guys…I just received this old Schrader tire inflator from my Father-in-Laws estate. The pressure indicator gauge part isn’t working. There is no part number on the inflator at all. Has anyone ever seen one of these? I’ve Googled it and nothing.

    Thanks!!

I have a few Schrader pieces but nothing like that, nice.
Same as my last name but no relation.

The R trademark symbol came in in ‘46 so it’s after that.

Any ideas on repairing the gauge part? Won’t read tire pressure.

They’re nothing more complicated than a piston with a spring, so either air isn’t getting to it, it’s not sealing or it’s jammed. Does it pull out?

I’ve had it all apart to clean it and can’t find any reason for it not to work. The slider gauge part will slide out when I pull it with pliers against the spring.

I’ve just got one in a key ring, it takes no effort to pull out, certainly don’t need pliers. If you take it apart and connect it to an air line does air get to the hole where the slider fits?

    Yes

All my newer gauges pull out easily. This one has a long spring on the gauge slider that, I assume, retracts the slider when the unit is removed from the tire you’re measuring.

  16. There is a passage that connects the two sides,,,,,,have you removed the flexible hose and inspected the inside ?
Might have some trash built up inside ?

Just did that… pretty clean…applying air to that port delivers air to the supply ( quick disconnect) port… hose is open and clear. Unit inflates tires fine… just the gauge slider isn’t moving.
