sold that....current '57's have 283s ...will amend thanks for bringing it to my attention
brief search of the word Amazon has about 30 posts and threads mostly by you...i'm guessing you work for them or own stock lol
hey again perhaps it's because you keep quoting me? I said my piece about not supporting and/or promoting multi billionaire's businesses because the A-word was in your tag line.... I meant discussing businesses that flog a few auto parts is Off Topic for this site not your thread... as are things like bagging, windsors and other late model engines etc... I didn't make the rules I just like them...so if we both do as you recommend we can carry on...
As for your cars and projects they sound cool and I get and respect the budget thing...you went on to hit quite a few points that I said nothing about so don't put words in my mouth...my foots already in there!

Everything's just fine back there... but thanks for your concern?

  2. no its called common sense. How many of your cars do you drive on a regular basis? If I had registration on my 53 I could easily drive it as is despite being dead in the water from 1973-2023. You might be willing to wait a decade to hear a car fire up but I'm in the real world. And I know how to post ON TOPIC. It would have been one thing if you'd have posted your butthurt on my build thread....I still would have dragged you but it would have been on topic. Next you'll say replacing a rusty smashed quarter on a tri five with a new one is off topic because you're supposed to use a $5000 new old stock quarter. Griping about the actual age of materials is just goofy. You honestly sound like a cliche restoration guy.....how many new balance shoes do you own? I mean even your defense on my last comment was that all your 57s now had stock engines. In modern times there's a practice where if you don't like a topic you scroll past. Sort of like I do on bagged or Ford Windsor powered cars. See how many comments have you made on this thread without contributing to the actual topic? 3? And all of topic

Anyway further into the subject of my alternator and 350. I decided a few months back the 350 will stay. It will end up with a powergen alternator to help looks but I have priorities over that. Meanwhile the 283 will still get built. I'll be going dual quad on it with a 61 C10 three speed manual hooked to a narrowed 55 Pontiac rear end. With drums all around. And be in a 29 model a. So not only did I save a lot of cash with the route I went I'll have saved two vintage cars from the crusher instead of still trying to save one.
And seeing as cheap mail order has been a part of hotrodding since the early days I'd say it'd still be on topic.....even if it is easier and quicker to use than 1959 jcWhitney
