  1. Ha, ha. The other side is so bad I couldn't post it. Went to the Box store with my wife yesterday to get some light bulbs and came out of the aisle to a sale on tool cabinets. My wife, being a great supporter, sees them and says you need to get that. Looking all cool I barely reacted and said maybe you're right when deep inside I was shreaking like a Bald Eagle. Then Marketplace add pops up for a set of real whitewalls. The wallet went Supernova Redline.

    Ha!
    Yeah, it happens!
I'd assume she says, "Well, that takes care of Christmas for you!"

  3. You are so right Mike!!! All day in the garage and all the cans are aligned. Sliding my jobste boxes to the corner and will fill that big blue beautiful box the right way.

Yeah, getting organized is a good thing but takes a lot of effort and mental work. That's why my garage doesn't get any pictures posted here. Its a mess. It 30x50 and would take a lot of time and effort. I'm just not into it lately either.

This made me laugh!! I hear ya!!! You're lucky you have a supportive wife for this stuff. My wife thinks 1 old car is enough and cant understand why I dont want to store pool shit in the garage. LOL

  5. Living Urban I think of 30x50 as a retirement option - but, not in this city. Snow is coming your way - time to go on a holiday then come back and clean the garage. The organization I'm achieving is easing my mental stress. It looks worse right now but, the end of the tunnel is near.
This one made me laugh. We have clear domains in our house. I have mtb bike stuff in my wife's art room. She would be happy to evict me from her space.

  6. Finished last night and after almost a week of organizing I realized I'm missing tools and I have duplicates. Sorry about the OT vehicle, Clementine is trapped in the driveway behind my kid's car.

  7. Aaand here they are. 235/75/15's for the rear and 235/70/15 up front. 5 yrs old and used but, with lots of tread left.

  8. How's this for a bite sized diversion. Got these '50's Lincoln hubcaps after looking at Cadillac caps and deciding I can't mix genres. I'm going to try to hammer smooth, polish then paint the centre gold instead of red. Need to be able to switch up the look occasionally but, on a budget.

  9. Steel wool cleanup and it's a whole different vibe. still looking for chrome reverse wheels.

  10. It's like racing a glacier this hubcap restoration business. Sand with 400g then chase highs and lows - FFE (For,Frigging, Ever)!

  11. Mounted Cokers on gold wheels. Snapped a Lincoln cap on 'cause, man, they are gold. Fairly certain caps will end up on the wall as we're more into the 60's vibe and caps suggest 50's - not a heartstopper at $85 delivered. The more I think of it, skinny whites could be an option. Kind of liking the scruffy ex '60's show car tow vehicle theme which chrome reverse would fit. Likely going to be multiple wheels on this by the time I'm done.

  12. When my caliper went bad it barfed brake fluid all over the inside of the wheel dissolving paint and rusting it bad. Sand sand, spray spray. went to get whitewalls mounted and it will be a couple of days and I'm flying out east until the 5th. Will mount 'em when I get back.

  13. Back to our intake manifold. Heading over to Fordsix.com but, also taking opinions. I marked out centre line for #2 and #5 intake runners thinking I should be centering carb plates on these making it 13-5/8" between carbs. Thinking this addresses the lean fuel at #1 and #6 or does it matter?

  14. Found someone to weld up the intake project - hopefully done this weekend or next. Due to a moment of indecision but, mixed with fitment concerns, I'm not going to do the carb plates yet. I am heading over to find Norm German, the local propane guru, with my intake and 'Cazy Ass Plans' then ask him what he thinks so I have some faith this is going to work. No sense cutting for 2 versions of my carb to find it won't run because I'm overcarbed. My carb sits on the original single barrel port. My initial thought was to simply do 2 x single barrel plates. What if I need more flow? Should I cut 2 x 2 bbl plates instead and adapt as required. Adaptor plates might push the whole assembly too high so I'm hanging on until I get a consult.

  15. Made end caps and centre divider to hand off tomorrow.

Looks like you're on the way with that intake Will. A guy over on FordSix was doing one, and as I recall, it had some body interference at the back. Maybe we talked about that before.
As for carbs, if it was my decision, my ride, I'd do three deuces. Small ones. Like Holley 94s. That would be if I was gonna do carbs.
But since that intake has injector ports, I'd opt for efi, (oh crap! Did i say that?) and maybe adapt that intake to a single barrel throttle body at the front, or for the ultimate "GeeWhiz" factor, three side draft Weber IDF pattern dual throat TBs. Six barrels of awesomeness!
    Yeah. I'm made of money.
Monopoly money maybe. But I can still try to spend yours!

  17. Hi Mike,
This thing has occupied a lot of my truck time. I think I have the science to the point I could make multiple options. The top tube unbolts off the lower. I watched French Town Flyer's videos with his tri-carb setup and have to admit it is a cool looking thing. Our fuel price is back up to $1.70 liter (x4 to convert to Gal.) Propane is still at $.99 Liter so will stay with the Propane, I've never seen another Hot Rod on propane yet. There is a carb that looks more like a 1bbl but, not sure how it flows with a hair dryer. This is the part I don't understand - yet. When I get the intake back from it's first round of fab - with no carb plates cut, I'll do my 'Call a Friend' and try to figure this out.

Not nearly as critical with boost as without. The main downside to restrictions on the charge side is heat.
I've never seen a boosted propane setup either. You may end up being a trailblazer. Just be cautious. On gasoline/alcohol, a boosted motor cannot tolerate being lean under power. You could hurt some stuff. Bad. I have sacrificed many many parts to the gods of speed in that manner!

  19. I understand. What I've learned so far is propane is opposite to a gas engine. Propane is cold as Hell and with the hair dryer out back no need for an intercooler. Propane is safer going lean but, I'll be going at it baby steps. Thinking 8 lbs of boost to start and I'll plumb in a boost adjuster so I can sneak up on what I will consider max at 10-12 lbs. Basically a motor tough as a diesel breathing easy both intake and exhaust except propane with a rookie at the helm - what could go wrong.

    What could go wrong iindeed!
Methanol is a cold fuel too. But let 'er go lean, and DAYUM SON!
Don't skimp on the waste gate. That's your primary boost control.
But if I see a big mushroom cloud to the north, and don't see a post from you afterwords, we will know what happened! :D

  21. Yup, you don't want the last thing going through your mind to be your asshole. Going name brand - Turbosmart. This truck is going to look like shit, drive like shit, but, be 'The Shit'.

TurboSmart is good stuff. Marty Staggs there is one of my racin' buddies. He set me up with a lot of the turbo stuff for my VW. He didn't steer me wrong! It was making big power within a few runs.
Buuuuutttt......I still hurt stuff because I was greedy.
You know how it is. If more is better, then WAY WAY too much has to be just right!

  23. I'm not greedy by nature but, I aspire to your logic.
By the way, notice anything different?

    Yep. Diggin' the new shoes!

  25. Hoping the intake arrives this week. In the meantime, my daily needs some service work so the F100 needs to be back on the road meaning I can't tear it apart. Mocking up exhaust manifolds to clear the starter then transition to a single 3" pipe. I made the 2 into 1 transition last spring. Mockup today probably took me as long as it will to build. Some sump pump pipe was the only sacrifice. Figure I need either a couple of U's or two 2-1/4" 90's and a couple 45's which was why I did this - to figure out parts. Just need to get it close then I can tack and install then put it together and downtime should be minimal - or at least that's the plan.

  27. Done for now. Next up - go chat with some local Alt fuel experts about my plan. If I get some thumbs up I'll know what type of mixer/carb to put on then cut mounting plates and give back to the guy who welded it up to complete.

  28. Took my intake to 'The Guy' this morning and he was on holidays for 2 weeks. Shop foreman couldn't answer my questions. Next project - used both CAD and SAD for this one.

  29. A bandsaw would sure be nice. I still have to put the donuts in and figured that would knock alignment out so it's close enough for now. I'll tweak it to align with the intake once on the engine. When I cut to length I'll weld without the slipfits - they're just holding it together so I can see how it will look at final.

  30. Got front whitewalls on today, grabbed 6 mos of insurance then jumped in for a cruise. Dead. Like deader than dead, couldn't even jump it. Spotted the electric primer switch I left on last time I started it which ran the battery down to nothing. Nothing serious so on the trickle charger for the day. Try again tomorrow.
