I think I can hear them too, had to keep valve clearance adjusted. The 365 hp was only engine that year that had solid lifters, all the rest had hydraulic lifters, even the 396 cu in engine that came available mid ’65 had hydraulic lifters. Edit: I forgot it was last year for the 375 hp fuel injected engine, it too might have had the solid lifters (unsure).
That can't be Detroit. Where are all the pot holes and cars missing doors and bumpers held on by duct tape and chicken wire?
The fuel injection motor also had solid lifters in 1965. If I remember correctly the valve setting on a cold motor was .008 intake and .018 exhaust.
It didn't matter what I drove the parents never trusted me. Transmission?: linkage or synchromesh would be my first guess.
If I am reading this right the graphic chart is showing average speeds over the closed course. So the closed course speed on the wooden track is 96.36 miles per hour. Brick 89.84 Dirt 74.70 miles per hour and so on. Could be wrong, won't be the first time. Interesting graph.
