No F**kin way! Chrysler/Plymouth would never commissioned a POS that would look anything like that abomination!

It was. Not the prettiest one though. It’s been restored.

  9. Looks like it was caught in a tornado.
I would not have restored it if I had the resources.

  10. Not quite. It was a monstrosity created by Saoutchik from a ‘53 Cadillac.

Some cool parts but some cars need to be left in the past.

There’s another stunner! Packard would probably still be around if they used a few of the ideas from that one.

It is an amazing design, but maybe a bit too radical for where Studebaker was at the time. It was a real treat to see it up close and in person in the basement at the Museum in 2020:

Nope not a Chrysler concept car. That story was made up in an attempt to make $ at auction. It was built in Utah in the late ‘50s early ‘60s from a wreck. Look close - would Chrysler stylists have used an F-1 hood?

10 cylinder Corvair-based air-cooled modular engine in a stretched 62 Impala coupe built by GM Engineering staff in Watrren, MI. This was the out growth of a front wheel drive Corvair project headed up by Jim Musser. They also experimented with a 2-cylinder, 4-cylinder, 6-cylinder version. One of the 6-cylinder versions is on display at the National Corvair Museum in Illinois.

You do know Corvairs were 6 cyl air cooled engines, right?

The air cooled 2-4-6-10 cylinder modular engine project was an engineering concept study looking to reduce the cost to produce the production Corvair engine Yes, they all were air cooled.

Studabaker needed to sell everyday cars not a high priced sports car that was ugly as hell. They should have gotten rid of Lowey a decade or more earlier. They used to build some beautiful cars earlier in their existence.
