I’m not looking to buy anything to be honest. I have three keepers at the moment including one major project. The prices are sometimes tempting…but I am pretty content too.

Im looking to buy and seeing some pretty decent deals on 50’s cars, most bone stock not running but $2K maximum.
I have to get something to keep me busy now that ive parted with my ‘41 K1 but its coming back into garage cuz new owner(#1 Son) wants it painted….

  6. Older 4x4s are bringing premium prices.
    Some bring crazy prices.
Maybe that will soak up the market and get 35/6 ford prices down :)

I made a deal on a 31 Model A coupe for a little over 4K. It needs the interior redone, but all else checks out. The 4 banger has a local shop rebuild tag from 1951. Trying to get the title work complete now before I bring it home. Will probably change intake/carb and head to start with while I build another chassis for a waiting 283. Keeping it full fendered as well.

I'm 38 and there are tons of things I'd like to own, but I'm attached to the 4 I have and one project. Once I finish my A RPU, I plan to maintain and improve the stuff I have and not add anything new.

Honestly I am not seeing a buyers market ... Everything I look at is mostly overpriced , poorly built or rusty junk. I mostly search for unmolested non restored stuff that has been parked for a long time. I get lucky once in awhile...

Agreed. I watch the classifieds in my area and occasionally across Canada, and from what I've seen there isn't some crazy buyer's market. Maybe somewhere else in North America there is.

I'm not seeing a buyer's market in my area, (Idaho). I'm also watching Washington, Oregon, Utah. Still asking prices are very high for what is being advertised.

  13. O.K, either I missed something or people in other parts of the country are making way more money a year!

I am a welder/fabricator and make pretty good money for upstate NY, but everyone of these cars is completely unaffordable without taking out a loan, but isn't that defeating the purpose of owning an old car and building hot rods customs and racecars?

Don't we do this to escape the stress of everyday life, and now we are bringing the stress of having to make a car payment into it?

I decide on something practical..’41 coupe so there’s room for Freddy to ride along. Another trip to Iowa to pick the rest of parts to keep me busy for quite a while…Got ALL the glass..windshield may be useable… IMG_2374.jpeg IMG_2357.jpeg IMG_2412.jpeg IMG_2405.jpeg IMG_2411.jpeg

  19. I picked up a very nice OT '66 Belair in May for a good price, good DD material with PS and front power discs, converted to an HEI, brand new QUIET duals on it. It was a movie set car in the previous life.

In the fall, the codgers come out with cars for sale at cruise events... most are Florida bound. I saw a nicely done '55 Chevy for around $20k, a '34 Ford radical custom coupe for $45k that must have cost at least double that to build.

Just bought an OT 1971 convertible to haul behind my motor home. Get almost as many thumbs up that I used to get in the Zipper. Local car and priced right. At 83, I swore I wouldn’t get involved in playing with another car! However, spent the last hour ordering parts!

we might not be making more than a new yorker but we have more left over after we pay for everything else at the year end. I had a cousin that moved to new york because of the wages. he ended up moving back here to wi., couldn't afford that job out there even though it was way more money take home but after living expenses he was in the hole.
