    Still a little ways to go but its slowly taking form. A 49 lincolns frame is almost twice as tall as a model a so its gettin pretty custom over here! Haha

    No, man. You were subconsciously building a "Street-Altered"... May as well go w/the flow now... Engine setback is crucial to obtaining & maintaining a better f-r weight balance(drag racing or corner-carving). :D . Besides, if you ever dump in that Lincoln v12, you have demonstrated the foresight to create the room. Same for that oversize v8 flattie you were thinking about. & you also have the proper room for a blower snout & pulley system for any regular v8. See what your sub-conscious has done for you here... :D ?

    I do gotta Q that K-member w/those radius rods. My eyes tell me you're attempting to disprove the physics theory of any 2 objects cannot occupy the same physical space at the same time. "Back from the Future"??? :D .
    'Course, you could just lengthen the frame that amt, & then the doors(or front of rear qtr panels), for better proportions - not to mention useable legroom & also easier entry/exit. :D .

    That IS the big flathead, lincoln 337! It fits perfectly if its in the right spot. Where its at now I have 5-7" of clearance fan to radiator and its sitting 4-5" into my firewall...it has to go forward. The radius rods are going to get a front wishbone ball welded on then I am going to add the cup to the bottom of the x member which will give me a single pivot point for the rear. I will add a rotational torsion rod as well. The sad fact is, I need to cut the x member and slide it forward. No point crying over spilled milk, Ill just get it done! I will have to figure out spacing from the radius rods to the bottom of the x member but a lot is changing there still

    This might make more sense or help illustrate...the x moves forward to the red lines, then the pivot ball will mount just under the back of the x, I planned this out well, I just stuck the x member into the wrong spot for some dang reason Screenshot_20231111_132847.jpg

    @oliver westlund, that saying of walking a mile in someones shoes is one I utter to myself maaaanny times...bet your head isn't itchy any more...Pinch yourself your human...It'll make for a happy moment in conversation down the road when your done...Nrg is right, maybe you were looking at them little pages you got a way back and were thinking of the next project in real time advance...;)

    Been there done that...well not that but you know two steps back...hey it's looking good...the rubber, rims/caps and stance are awesome...;)

    Pulled the front crossmember tonight. V-grooved then welded the crack, cleaned it up and painted it. I also cut a relief into it to clear the front axle

    Got up this morning and found myself in the shop in my pajamas fitting the front crossmember. ADHD is a bitch haha 20231113_101908.jpg
    I also slid the crossmember forward about 3/4". Made sure it was even but figured I could use the extra fan clearance and it wont hurt anything

    Its been a hiatus! It all started with me being sick for a month. Coughing myself to death. Went to gnrs. Had a blast! Checked out the mcgee roadster at the petersen and now that I am back I am finally getting back to work on the roadster. Jumped into the motor mounts. I ordered some biscuits and they just arrived so might as well! I started with a hunk of model a torque tube...

    Cut my shape and then welded a cap on that I made out of a flat piece of frame that I ran a hole saw through at the appropriate size

    Just have to weld it in tomorrow and repeat for the drivers side

    Man I just did this whole thing! I don't remember seeing anyone go through so much to create a roadster body. Well, there was the guy here that built a sorta smaller Duce roadster from a VW, and did pretty good job. I've seen pictures of the body but had no Idea of what it took. Great work. It makes the metal work for mine look simple. The wood work not so much. :eek::D Glad you stuck with it!

    Thanks Six, I have a 30 model a roadster I will be building after this and I promise you I am very much looking forward to just repairing and not having to invent hahaha that said this little roadster has been a lot of fun and super helpful for me to develope some skills and perspective on. I am still very much a novice

    I don't have the skills you do. You have solved some tough fitment issues. Mine was all the same body and should fit back together once I build the wood to nail it to. One plus is the sheet metal pieces are small enough to put in a citric acid soak to remove rust before I do any assembly. Maybe that is the only plus. :D You created some nice lines. Will the Lincoln fit under the hood? That thing looks huge.

    Thanks man, I dont think the lincoln will fit under the hood sadly, maybe a hood top but it is MASSIVE surprisingly its slightly smaller than a cad flathead though. I have a 41 sitting in the corner that I was considering for this project at one point. According to my measurements I shouldnt have to cut the firewall much or at all. I MAY need to set my radiator on some tabs to move it forward, I tried to snug up close to it. I am looking forward to setting the body back on to figure all of that out then yank it all apart again to paint and box the frame as well as do brakes and steering. Then when the body goes back on I can drive it while doing bodywork! I love your chev man, I have been following your build closely! Reconstructing an early chevy is not for the faint of heart!

    I'm on my third Aortic valve. Both replacements since I got the Chevy. :D

    Both motor mounts in amd the trans crossmember is all braced up!

    Really cool build, I’m gonna follow. Have two of these 337’s, one with a junk block the other with some theoretically repairable cracks. Was hoping to someday replace the 239 lhead in my 53 f100 with one of the two. Have most of what I need to put one together as long as the better of the two blocks can be repaired, I was told years ago that it could be. Too many projects! Retirement can’t come soon enough!

    Thanks man! 337 is a cool engine, makes the hp of a hopped up 8ba from the factory and twice the torque. H&h flatheads still make 2x2 intakes and aluminum heads for em too which knocks em down to only 650 lbs which isnt all that bad! Plus if you are patient they can be had for a song!

    Looks to me that the "oiling-pad" is missing 2/3 of its' proper mass... :D .

    Nice find! Those period correct rodent nests are sought after in certain circles.
    I'd check the valves in that area especially if that was the point of entry.
