I thought I knew cars pretty well but this thread has woke me up to how few of models I really know. Looks like you figure out the models real well.
Agreed ! from Aus. and learn something new, every day..err night! Again, many thanks to all posters;you are my main focus every day.
This really brings back some memories. Wasn't till 1960 that we in South Australia got TV ! Nevertheless, this pic exactly replicates what I was doing just up the end of the road on a Sat. evening:when me and a lot of other kids slipped out on hot summer daysto be totally mesmerised. For free! Take me back!
I'm not a trucker, but c'mon guys! Is that a Diamond T or a Reo facing on right? I am happy either way. Great looking trucks back in the day! Love DT's.
We have them here, and they can work quite well. If there is any problem,I lay it right at the driver's feet. We have shit driver training here in Aus. But as you are no doubt in similar straits,I lay responsibility at Govts. door. If we do not train folks to drive well,ie. First; know your vehicle inside out, back to front,ie. be at one with it.Be able to operate Every function in it,without taking your eyes off the road.(exclude the BS tech crap). Sit in your car, close your eyes and work through the neccessary operations, without going anywhere, stay alive, stay alert and always be looking for the other one to be trying to wipe you out. In closing, driven in the UK and they have massive roundabouts there. Got used to them real quick, after I learned they had traffic lights on some of the exits and on ramps. Then after exiting, another roundabout.Just need to keep aware, which exit do we need to take.
@Sky Six Hello, That building just off of the I-5 freeway was the huge tire company plant. It is now a huge outdoor outlet shopping center called the Citadel. It is about 9 miles from the Union Station near the downtown Los Angeles area. Over the years we have driven on the I-5 freeway leading into the downtown Los Angeles area, we have always been impressed with this building area. It looked like an old fort right in the middle of industrial buildings. It had its presence among those bland low flat buildings, surrounding that structure. "In 1929, architects Morgan Walls and Clements (Mayan Theater) built City of Commerce’s most recognizable landmark, the Assyrian-themed Samson Tire and Rubber Co. factory before being shut down in 1978." The center is now owned by the same people that own most of the outlet centers in So Cal. That Cidatel Outlet Stores complex was originally called the Samson Tire Company. Then in 1931, it was called The US Tire and Rubber Company, then it became Uniroyal Tire in 1962. The plant operated for nearly half a century until Uniroyal closed the facility on March 3, 1978. Jnaki The fun thing about Outlet centers, during the winter months leading up to Christmas, a lot of people look ahead at them to see who is going to claim the tallest tree in California or the USA. One year, the claim for a coastal city was being touted as the “World’s Tallest Tree” arrived at the Outlets at San Clemente, a block or two from the ocean. (currently where the largest weekly Cars and Coffee event takes place on Saturday mornings. By the time the Outlet center begins to open for business, the cars are usually gone from the vast empty property.) At 125 feet tall, the installment of the white fir Christmas tree officially marked the shopping center’s start of the Christmas festivities and holidays. The tree is being decorated with approximately 18,000 multicolored lights along with 10,000 additional ornaments. Delivered from Mt. Shasta, the white fir was grown and selected by San Juan Capistrano-based Victor’s Christmas Trees, the Outlets said in a press release. San Clemente outlet live/dead tree Not so grand in the beginning of the delivery and installation. NOTE: The Cidatel Outlet in Los Angeles has a 100 ft. tall tree, back then. It too, came from the Mt. Shasta region and now the competition for the tallest tree in So Cal was in the running that year. The Cidatel in Los Angeles At the time, the world’s largest bow on display at the Cidatel Shopping Center in Los Angeles. Most of the large outlet centers are great places for car shows and displays. The parking lots are usually so vast that a portion of the area could be cordoned off for a car show. Hot rods + sporty types are abundant in most shows.
What! no comment on the ancient symbol of what we call the Swastika? Yes,it had been around for a long time before the Nazis.
