Bad news that so many scammers are out there. I never use friends and family with paypal if i don't know the person, too many scammers around and it has saved my money twice though not because of scammers, just shitty dishonest sellers.
@neilswheels that's awesome that you called him out! I hope you reported the profile to IG, maybe they will take down his profile completely?
Don’t remember if I read it here or somewhere else, of a fellow that got scammed, found the guys address went to his house asked if he was so and so, when the guy confirmed he was, he hit him in the face right through the screen door! Classic
If I have my ducks in a row it has nothing to do with the dollar amount. The fraud thru govt postal service is the crime.
I've reported the justin account however seems he has blocked me now. I will just create another IG account and keep annoying him
I think it was in a post by Atwater Mike (RIP) , but don’t recall if it was him or someone else replying. Sure miss Mike.
I have bought and sold many times with a postal money order from here in the Hamb . I stick it in a magazine and send it on its way . Like you said it takes a bit longer but a tad bit of security on my end snd the sellers . only had one issue where a guy sent a money order but I never received it . Not sure how it turned out for him but no love lost on either side .
Always, always, always check to see how many times the seller has changed their name. If it's more than once, don't ever send them any money.
This is interesting. Are you referring to changing their name on PayPal? Where would one see the name change history?
That post was by Atwater Mike, back on March 20th, 2023, if you do the search on Mikes content, its on page #5 , it didn't indicate that possibly the guy that mike dealt with, was a victim of stolen identity. Mike didn't tolerate any bullshit from anyone, I miss him as well !

on a PC; alt + 0162 on the numeric keypad ( hold the alt key while entering the 0162) There are a lot of alt codes for special characters; just do a search.
Also open "Character Map" listed under the Windows Accessories drop-down menu or search for "charmap" in the lower left search box at the bottom of your screen. All sorts of handy special characters listed there for things like degrees, ohms, micro-farads and such. Not sure how you do it on a Mac or Android operating system though.
I crashed my dragster in 2000. Fractured two vertabrae. Had to lay flat on my back six weeks. My favorite activity was cold caller mass marketer baiting. Got pretty good at holding them on the line - "Oh, your name is Sholanda? What a coincidence - that's my mother's name!" yadda yadda yadda Finally, when I was ready I always did the "What are you wearing?" with heavy breathing trick. CLICK
Also part of the problem is that many people still choose to ignore all the warnings (since at least 1958, it seems) and manage to get hooked by something they really should be aware of. Trust is a wonderful thing, but you have to be wary of who you give it to.
Curious, have you checked with your PO and see what they would do if you were actually scammed? I’ve read some contradictory results about those who think “the government has got my back”. No experience, just reading replies
This scumbag is feeding his Insta page regularly. Still using HAMB/Jalopy Journal listings to fuel his scams. Current listing is here - https://www.instagram.com/justin_robkustim/p/C3ahQddKWrN/?img_index=1 Where he got the photos - https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/jeep-t5-with-torque-tube-adapter.1102314/
Lots of articles online about how the USPS inspectors are way understaffed and undertrained and that mail theft and associated frauds have gone through the roof. I would guess the protection people think they have with postal money orders is a lot less effective then they think.
I think it likely takes a minimum dollar amount before the USPS gets really interested in investigating. Though it's probably still worth at least reporting lesser amounts in the event that the same scammer has defrauded a large number of buyers.
I thought I would pop back and give a wee update on this one . We didnt expect anything possitive from Pay Pal and we were correct but no gripe , as he did take the cheap way through there system with the FAF method of payment . Given that course of payment we didnt expect much from the bank either but given his PAYPAL is linked to his bank it was worth asking . So I encouraged him to make enquiry. Its taken a few weeks but he has been reimbursed by his bank .. I have no idea if its some sort of insurance cover with his account but whatever, the bank saw fit to plug the fresh gap in his account . Your never going to believe it but first thing he did was search for a LZ steering wheel !! You cant teach an old dog new tricks Needless to say we nailed the seller , pinned them down on google earth, called them , and did everything humanly possible to make sure they were who they were and that everything was above board . Fingers crossed this one works out for him . He run a 34 Ford coupe as a kid growing up in California and always wanted a 39 LZ wheel for his ride back then. slow roll forward 67 years and now living on the other side of the Atlantic he is finally satisfying his boyhood wants.. Cant argue with that , why not .
