Technical Old Ford in the Woods. What is it ?

I like dogs more than cars....and ppl.

 

Yes people do! Once the novelty of having a puppy wears off there are people who just dump dogs at the pound or worse on a back road. We just rescued this three year old who lucky for her was turned back into the breeder from a grandmother who has terminal cancer. Unfortunately most people want puppies so adult dogs often remain in pounds or meet a worse fate.

 

My dogs have always been my best friends! They always go everywhere with me. You fuck with my dog you fuck with me. You don’t want to fuck with me!

Both are shop day pics. I keep them separated because they started fighting, nothing serious at 1st but by the 3rd or 4th time it woulda been to the death so we've lived with baby gates for the last 6 years. Couldn't give up either one. They love their shop days.

 

Thanks for saving the dog.. Since you're in Texas, get her tested for heartworms. Not cheap to treat and maybe why she was dumped. PM me if you have questions and I'll try to help. I don't want to clog up the HAMB with vet advice.

Features from two of the parts helps narrow it down to have been a 1920 Model T.

In one picture you can see what is left of an oval gas tank which was first used 1920.

The running board still has one bracket attached to it that is the earlier forged style bracket which was changed to the pressed steel style in 1921.

I always try and figure out how they got there in the first place. Found about a half dozen late 50s cars scattered around a dense remote woods. They were all shot to hell because the place has been used for target shooting. No roads to speak of, no old foundations and surrounded by swamps.
Another location near my home is a large old farm and the cars/trucks were also scattered in the woods. Seems like they left them were they died, some in what I thought were inaccessible places. I did find some old home made bridges so the mystery seemed to be solved on how they got there.

Took a lot of work and determination to put these up. As far as I can tell the farm was abandoned in the 50s.

 

Sometimes it seems the only logical answer is 'tornado'...

 

Just curious, via the new name for the dog, is she spayed?

Regardless, scooping her up was the proper thing to do.

I’d still suggest a call to local animal services, someone may be looking for her.

 

You can also have the dog checked for a microchip.

 

So we are VERY rural up there. We checked with all the neighbors & no one recognized her. Its common for folks to dump cats & dogs up here. We're just a dirt road into the mountains right off the highway .
Its to cold to leave her outside so I did what I could on the spot.
She has clearly had puppies at some point but I walked all around with her for 3 days & she never led me too or went to tend to them. & Doesnt appear to be lactating.
My cousin will tend to her & any vetrinary needs.
Plus she's still living in the same area where she was hanging out when we found her, in case its a locals pet.
That said Im sure she was dumped as she sits in the driveway watching the cars drive by as if the owner will come back..Its sad as hell.
If it were my dog Id be on Facebook, posting flyers, driving the roads ect... Alls I can say now is she was happy as hell on the couch w my cousin getting loved & hand fed treats.

As far as the name someone asked about.
We named her Luna after my great grandmother who was from the area.
I'll be back in 2 weeks and will check in on her & report back.

This is a dash I found in the woods near Bennington,Vermont. Anyone know what it's from?? Thee vehicle was just a pile of unrecognizable sheet metal.

 

Looks really commercial, old truck or farm equipment. I note the hefty mounting brackets, lack of any "extra" controls or features.

 

check for a microchip on the dog.

The pile it was in was fairly small but not really recognizable. I left a wire wheel and tire and a door skin but it was over a mile in and my wife had already said, "you want it, you carry it".

@VANDENPLAS We had a Boston for 17 years.

 

The wheel wasn't that great and I had no use for a rotted,heavy tire. This was better.

Kind of OT, but we've been busy on our Oklahoma property. I got a call from my Uncle Sunday. Turns out he's talking w a local that mentions 3 "real sweet" pups dumped at his place awhile back. Sends me these pics... So some sorry sack o shit actually dumped Mamma & her puppies.
Im just glad they've all managed to survive.
The local is keeping one puppy. I'll most likeley bring Mom & the other pups back to Dallas & work w a foster group to find good homes for all of them.

 

I propose a theory related to how vehicles end up in areas with a lot of trees surrounding them.
Trees grow. What was a pasture 50-60 years ago can fill in quickly with trees over time. Most pictures I see posted of vehicles in trees they are not the diameter of original growth. Vehicles parked in the outer edge of a farmstead or near the farm dump site will get swallowed up in trees as time passes.
