I put part of this on another thread, it works here too so here goes.
1968 crusin the drag Central Ave Great Falls, Montana. 9 blocks of stop light to stop light. 64 corvette inside lane 51 olds 88 4 door beater multi colored dents here and there didnt even sound like its runnin. My friend and I are behind the olds in his 64 2 door hardtop olds holiday coupe. guy in the vette is playing with the guy in the olds at the light hes revin it up and burnin the tires on the green, slows down and waits for the olds. does that for 3 or 4 lights. next one at the green the olds looked like it comes off the ground and takes off pulls away from the vette like a rocket and blows the vette away. the vette gets to the light makes a left turn and we dont see him for the rest of the night. Guess those Rocket 88s really were

  5. When I was a kid my group use to take transmissions out of cars at car lots and homes when one was broken in one of our cars; so one night 2 of the group were under a 59 chevy working on taking the trans and driveshaft out in front of a house when the owner turned on his front porch light and yelled out "what are you doing?" and the kids said "we're working on our car" the guy on the porch said " you're working on my car and I'm calling the cops! So the kids scooted out from under the guys car and ran off with no replacing transmission and drive shaft to fix their car. Win some Loose Some I guess. HAHAHAHahahah!!!!

When my best friend got back from Viet Nam in '69 he bought a '62 Vette. About a month later we left a bar and saw two pairs of legs sticking out from under the jacked up Vette. He did not say a word but ran to the car and jumped onto the two knees on one side breaking both. He then went around and grabbed the other two legs and dragged the guy from under the car and started by stomping his nuts and then generally & literally kicking the crap out of him. PTSD in action. It was all I could do to grab & restrain him and move him away until others got there. I was scared he would turn on me because I was no match for him in normal circumstances. I have no doubt he would have killed them both. As it worked out they were hauled to the hospital. My friend & I put what little they had got apart back together. Two of his brothers came and got him calmed down and went to another bar. The cops were totally on his side. No humor here!

The post by @John Lee Williamson made me think of a local guy turned mobster. There was a Sunoco station next to the parking lot for a large dinner theater. Knowing the patrons would be in the theater for a couple hours it was easy to check out the cars and get a 4 speed that was needed for a repair at the gas station. The guy that ran the Sunoco had mob connections and was later made chief of police in another suburb, he ultimately did 20 years for aiding in a murder.

I've read your posts over the years and always had a picture in my mind of you as a law abiding, four square, solid citizen. Interesting to find that you were a hoodlum, just like me;).

  18. no rust. LOL

The wife and me drove 4 hours across Kansas to look at a '56 Windsor. "No rust." Yup that was truth. Someone had cut all the rust out.

In their defense that did an excellent job.

We laughed about that later. They hadn't gotten very far. If they had brought a saw they could have taken it out from the top and would have been gone. It would have been far easier to steal the whole car.

Some people should not be allowed within 100 yards of a car!
