Many Hambers have numerous opinions on this memorable Hotrod/Custom/Showrod...I look at it as the art that is Hotrod...Hamber @verde742 asked for a twist on it and this is something I did taking his lead...there's a number of ways it could have been presented...the building block was there...and proof to concept it can stun no matter which way it was presented as long as you have that vintage passion...

Happy Friday All...Great Show as always...sorry I've been away...Life is Good...I have some catching up to do...;)

Here's a pencil drawing I did of my Ol' Furd. Haven't done one like that in many years. Since about 1995, id been using Adobe Illustrator to do my stuff. Even then the last t-shirt design I've done was maybe ten years ago.
On this one, I haven't decided if I'll do any background imagery or leave it clean 20240316_064156.jpg

When I first joined the HAMB I was greeted by the work of a bunch of incredibly talented artists, many of whom quit contributing when the platform changed over. This was unfortunate because I believe it is a great place for like-minded artists from every level of experience to display our passion for the Hot rod hobby.

Thanks to all the terrific artists who continue to drop their stuff on this weekly gathering. Thanks @Ryan , @Jeff Norwell , @Moriarity for keeping it going.

There was one guy in particular, a former professional skate boarder, Steve, CAB, Caballero. Cab was doing amazing expressionistic stuff and printing on skate boards. His 5 window coupe was a stunner and won me over. I did this rendering, one of my earlier digital renderings, more for practice than a serious illustration. I was beginning to get the hang of using tools to create depth and blending so it was a real step forward in my rendering style. I think I'm gonna use the experience I've gained over the years to update it. See if I can give it a more structured look. we shall see... Stay tooned!

I'm pretty new around here but am curious what changed with the forum to cause artists to leave. There are some pretty cool sketchers, photographers, artists and illustrators here IMO! Like I've said before, I used to do some decent art back in high school. Nice bit above average stuff but nothing like a lot of you on here. This is one of the things I look forward to each week! Thanks

    Hey @OLE442
I too joined up in 2019, and after a few mishaps of not paying attention to the rules, and getting a few things deleted, to me, this weekly art show, is still one of the best elements of the H.A.M.B. website.

I really look forward to see what fellow artist's will post up.
Indeed there are a lot of talented contributors, that show up here each week.

When I first started to contribute, the (FAS) was started each week at 3:00AM, by a H.A.M.B. member
@57 Corvette ~ Bob , who in my opinion always had some great artwork to contribute.

With out getting into what ever infractions, that may have caused this forum to change, when Bob quit contributing, there has been a definite change.

That being said, still weekly, there are many great contributions posted here, whether its photography, or pen and ink, or close up of models, its all good.

@Jeff Norwell is now at the control board, that runs this little segment of the H.A.M.B. and he does a good job of doing that.

Here are a few of my older ones.
    Thanks from Dennis.

  17. Nice intro, {ole442}, and you too {41GMCK-18}. I'm NOT an artist, and have never made a penny on art. But I do have a crazy imagination. I use pencils, pens, flashlights, toys, my old Hot Rods, and phone camera to make art? I'm very old school. Well that's my little intro. Thanks for your likes , and for sharing your art. I'm honored to be a part of the F.A.S. with you guys. Ron..... 516.jpg 20160821_065446.jpg 20170210_005314.jpg

I also am new too HAMB. I find myself waiting on Friday so I can view FAS. I can honestly say I like and appreciate everything I see on FAS, almost always one or two pieces will really trip my trigger so to speak. All my life I’ve been surrounded by exceptional talent, sometimes World class, way beyond my level and skill set.
    Here I am again!!!!!
    Thank you

I'm currently working on a piece for a friend. It's a '67 Camaro. Is that forbidden?
I thought I'd post a step by step, from the beginning, laying out the horizon line to perspective lines, vanishing point, etc., then getting the basic shape drawn in, all the way to the finish.
But if it's verboten, then I guess you don't get to see it!

John, do or did you work at the Entertainment Partners bldg.? Film Roman animation had been located in that building in the early 2000s. I worked there on The Simpsons Move in '06 and '07 then again, briefly, in '09, on the tv series. You've posted a few shots of the Merc there and I'd always though to ask but not sure I ever actually did.

  26. Mark, I didn't work there, I liked the location on Sundays when the business was closed. It provided a good back drop for my car picts. John Williamson jwillia100@aol.com
